Psychiatry, Therapy and Counseling Services in Cambridge, MA
Finding a qualified and experienced counselor, psychiatrist, psychologist, or coach who can meet your needs is often a complicated process for many. Thriveworks has created a new kind of mental health practice to offer a more inviting and straightforward way.
Some individuals pursue coaching or counseling as a means of preventing significant issues and encouraging general personal growth, but many people don’t start their search until they’re already been suffering through the pain of a life issue like depression, anxiety, or a relationship problem.
Living through a difficult time is hard enough as it is. Having to call various counseling offices and hope that a counselor will have an opening (and accept your insurance) can make matters worse. It’s essential to speak with someone when you need it most.
Getting counseling or psychotherapy shouldn’t be a challenge. At Thriveworks Cambridge Therapy, we want to make sure you get the counseling or coaching care you need as soon as possible, which is why we offer first-time clients an appointment as close to when they call as possible — usually within 24 hours. This is also why we offer online counseling therapy opportunities.
We believe that you, just like everyone else, have the potential to thrive in life.
Perhaps one of the following scenarios seems familiar:
- You need help overcoming grief and moving forward as the result of a loved one’s passing
- You’re anxious, continually thinking about missed opportunities and mistakes, and missing out on life right here, right now
- You and your family have recently relocated to a new city, and your once happy-go-lucky child is having a hard time adjusting to changing schools, and now you’re in search of a family therapist
- You and your significant other are considering marriage and want some professional guidance
- You’re married but find yourself falling for someone who is not your spouse and are looking for guidance
Even if nothing above resembles any of your life experiences, you undoubtedly have other hardships — big or small. Difficult life situations are not shameful or tragic in and of themselves, but they can become tragic when you try to keep the problems hidden and suffer through them alone. There is always someone who can help, regardless of the issue.

- Set goals and take steps toward reaching them
- Process challenging relationships and life issues
- Pursue and achieve personal growth
Counseling and psychiatric care address an essential element of our overall wellbeing that we often ignore or — worse yet — treat as taboo.
In order to be physically healthy, we have to exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and eat a balanced diet. Your psychological health is no different — it deserves your attention and care to live a full, balanced life.
Without addressing both your physical and mental health, you become unbalanced, and even simple tasks and decisions can become overwhelming (or impossible).
You might even think that everything is fine, much in the way that someone with a high metabolism and a poor diet can confuse their svelte figure with physical fitness. And to a degree, this might be true, but there is always room for continued personal growth, and a counselor or coach can help you identify opportunities to do so.
The professionals at Thriveworks Cambridge Therapy are equipped to help with a wide variety of mental health issues, which include:
- Anxiety disorders
- Couples and marriage counseling
- Eating disorders
- Obsessive-compulsive tendencies
- Grief counseling
- Child therapy
- Suspected abuse in a child
- Psychiatric testing
- Anger management
- Addiction issues
- Professional development
- Life transitions such as divorce or loss of a job
While it’s not possible to list every scenario and reason people work with Thriveworks Cambridge Counseling, know that we have a therapist or coach who can help you with whatever the concern, situation or goal is that brought you to our page.

No Waiting Lists: Sessions within 24 Hours
Some counselors think that having a waiting list is a sign of professional success. We see it as a sign of a poorly managed practice.
As stated earlier, Thriveworks was established on the belief that everyone can benefit from a relationship with a skilled, qualified counselor or coach. Everyone has the potential to live a meaningful, fulfilling and balanced life — to thrive.
From our very first session, where we’ll learn about you and your background, we will help you develop a sense of hope, direction and purpose; it’s our goal that you’ll leave each session better off than when you came.
For that reason, we want to see you as soon as possible, which is why most of our first-time clients arrive at their first sessions within 24 hours of reaching out to us.
