Starting Therapy for women

What is therapy for women?

Therapy for women uses traditional psychotherapeutic techniques implemented through a feminist lens to help women deal with the emotional and mental ramifications of being a woman in today’s society. Thriveworks Wyomissing therapists will target issues like toxic masculinity, gender roles, misogyny, and other problems that women face daily and their impact on their mental health.

How does therapy for women work?

Therapy for women works much like traditional therapy, but will also integrate person-centered and humanistic therapy approaches at the forefront of treatment. Thriveworks Wyomissing therapists who specialize in treating women acknowledge the unique experience of each individual while treating a wide variety of concerns with empathy, compassion, and respect.

Is therapy for women conducted in person or online?

Therapy for women at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.

How long does therapy for women last?

Therapy for women will often last until the client feels that their therapeutic goals have been met, whether it continues for a few months or over the course of years. However, treatment should last at least five months, as that is the average amount of time therapy takes to have a lasting impact.

I am pleased to have someone I can tell how I am feeling that I would not express to family or friends. The medication helps me to get a better night sleep and helps me feel better the following days and to cope throughout the days that follow.

I'm very fortunate to have gotten such a great Therapist Lauren Lowe. She is a very good listener and helps me with my anxiety. Lauren gives me ideas how to manage the anxiety. I see her every Wednesday afternoon and go over what has happened for the week to help me cope with things I have problems with. I look forward to see her and all the help she has given me. I rate her very highly as a Therapist.

I took my preteen child there, who did not want to go at all and after 1 session my child was willing to go back, reporting the counselor was so nice! I instantly saw a change in my child, we will continue to attend throughout the summer to continue to make progress. When we arrived, I instantly felt comfortable in this calm environment. I recommend this office to anyone.
