Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Helping others is the cherry on top. I decided to become a counselor to learn the necessary skills to live a fulfilling life by working on learning to be the best version of myself. It was a personal choice for personal development.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Clients contemplating change. Clients who are looking for a professional perspective to start taking steps toward achieving their desired goals.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
It is not a matter of getting rid of our painful experiences, but it is a matter of how we deal with them and move forward.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
The work-life balance Thriveworks offered is why I chose to practice with them. Self-care and family are essential for me to have the energy to help my clients.
What inspires you?
People inspire me. I live to develop meaningful relationships with my husband, children, friends, and community.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a judgment free-zone. They can expect a professional partner willing to understand their internal struggles and walk alongside them to achieve their personal goals.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want my clients to embrace their humanity and feel open to sharing their internal experiences without fear of judgment from me. I want to help them understand that avoidance or trying to get rid of their pain amplifies it and entangles them, often making their painful, negative experiences worse.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I enjoy using psychoeducation, workbooks, books, and videos to help clients expand their perception of self, others, and the world to take control of the things they can control and develop acceptance of the things they cannot control.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy spending quality time with my husband, playing with my sons, reading, learning, traveling, doing volunteer/ministry work, and investing in building meaningful relationships with friends.
