Cheryl Colt, LPC

“I want to feel better. I want a better relationship with my partner or children. I need someone to really listen to me.” These are some of the comments I hear when someone comes to counseling for the first time. Often the clients I see have struggled with depression, anxiety, conflict or trauma for years before they seek help from a therapist. What if counseling could improve your quality of life and lessen your negative symptoms? In my work as a psychotherapist, I have had the joy of seeing these very goals accomplished. My pastoral background also enables me to support clients, using their spiritual resources.

I have ten years of experience as a licensed professional counselor, working with individuals, couples and families to treat anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflict and life adjustments. So, I will not tell you what to do. I will listen empathically and offer my pastoral experience and therapeutic experience to assist you in making meaningful choices and changes for yourself. Are you worth it? I believe so.

Justin Michaud, LCPC

Philosophy of Care

I have been a therapist for 7 plus years and have worked in many environments to include an acute psychiatric facility working with children ages 5-12 and teens ages 13-18, as well as adult ages 18-70. I was also a director of therapy services at a residential program for young adults. I have seen some of the lowest valleys that patients have been sitting in and sat with them in that valley so that loneliness was not so daunting on the journey of empowerment and recovery. I have seen patients on the highest peaks of their life, and I stood with them as they basked in their triumphs of empowerment and recovery. I have such a burning desire to be the guide that people need when they feel lost on their journey of life. I want to stand with you tall in the moments of adversity and help guide you through as we develop sustainable stability and confidence in the vision of your future! I would be honored if you allow me to help you through your life journey and achieve the mental health you desire!

My name is Sara Kuntz and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been licensed since 2013.  I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a new resident of Richmond, Virginia. I graduated with my B.A. in Art Therapy in 2009 from Seton Hill University and continued my education, receiving my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2011, also from Seton Hill University.  Since graduating, my education has given me opportunities to take mental health jobs in a variety of different specialties. I’ve been able to work as a mobile-therapist, helping young children and their guardians cope with difficult life circumstances and dysfunctional relationships.  I also began my work as an outpatient therapist where I was given an opportunity to expand my impact into the Pittsburgh public schools, supporting students in high risk environments as they worked to better their lives. I’ve also had the privilege of providing family therapy at a residential treatment facility, working with at-risk youth and their families as they cope with their grief, trauma and transition into a more functional and safe environment for the entire family system.  My experiences led me on my journey to open my own practice, Aerie Counseling Services, in Erie, PA in 2014. While in Erie, I got to work with a diverse population, dealing with adult relationship issues, anxiety & depression, identity struggles, as well as, my continued work with young individuals and their family systems. I pride myself on being a positive, compassionate, hard-working therapist and strive to help clients develop a strong sense of self-awareness and recognize the impact of their systemic influence to work towards a more functional, fulfilling life.

Stephanie Valeri, PMHNP

Philosophy of Care

Stephanie has spent over 12 years as a nurse emphasizing the importance of therapeutic communication, empathy, and patient education. She understands that she is not just treating symptoms, but a person with a past, present, and future. She feels in helping patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options; they can make the best treatment decisions for themselves. She believes in developing a strong therapeutic relationship where there is open communication and time for questions so the patient feels comfortable when they leave the appointment with their plan of care, and understands the next steps if this plan is not effective.

Stephanie believes a therapeutic relationship is the foundation of a strong treatment plan. In this line of thinking she takes the time to listen and understand the patient's history so that she can understand not just where they are now, but how they got here. She then works to help her patients meet their own goals for their future through medication management and therapeutic techniques.

Stephanie is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (across the lifespan). She received her bachelor's in Psychology from Virginia Tech and then her Associate's Degree in Nursing. She has returned to her love of behavioral health and received a Master's of Nursing from Gonzaga University.
