About
Socrates taught that we have all the answers within our innermost selves; we just need to ask or be asked the right questions. I approach therapy in much the same way, and I hope to serve as a guide on yourjourney towardsa deeper understanding of yourself.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I have extensive experience working with adults in crisis, including those navigating severe mental illness, suicidal ideation, treatment-resistant depression, anxiety disorders, and adjustment disorders. My clinical background includes work in psychiatric hospital settings, providing intensive therapeutic support.
I hold a master’s in counseling psychology from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. My eclectic approach draws from cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. I am open-minded and nonjudgmental, and I incorporate humor into sessions when appropriate to help build connection and ease difficult conversations.
I consider it a privilege to support individuals as they move through their healing journey. I aim to create a safe and supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to work toward meaningful change. If you feel we may be a good fit, I invite you to schedule an appointment to get started.

As a counselor it is my job, without judgement, to meet you wherever you are and walk with you wherever you need to go.
I am a licensed professional counselor with over 15 years of experience helping individuals navigate life's challenges and find a healthy life balance. I work with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, addiction, and trauma. I also have the honor of working with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community.
My approach integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques to support clients in achieving emotional well-being and personal growth. I believe it's essential to explore what brings us happiness and fulfillment—I practice this in my own life through building Legos, creating artwork, and SCUBA diving.
I am deeply committed to offering empathetic, direct, and compassionate care. I prioritize active listening in every session, ensuring clients feel heard and understood. My goal is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where clients can process their emotions, learn healthy coping skills, and move forward in a positive direction.

My go-to approach in helping individuals struggling with grief and loss is to listen first. Education on the process of grief and loss and providing helpful tools are helpful in moving forward in the healing journey.
I show clients that there will be lots of discussions about what grief is and how it's a spectrum, not just stages.
I know individuals are achieving success in therapy through self-reports of decreased bothersome feelings and behaviors.
Clients can engage in meaningful activities that increase feelings of joy and purpose.
An individual can prepare for therapy by understanding that sometimes, you have to experience the pain of grief in order to understand it and learn ways to effectively cope with it.
Grief and loss counseling helps people grieve difficult losses including the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, or the end of a relationship. Grief and loss counseling isn’t one-size-fits-all, but it involves sharing about your loss and then working with your counselor to acknowledge and accept your new reality in its wake. Your provider at Thriveworks in Oklahoma City, OK will design your treatment plan around your unique needs and goals for therapy, applying the counseling techniques that best support them.
If you have recently experienced an event like the death of a loved one, a breakup or divorce, the loss of a job, or another major life change, then you may want to seek grief and loss counseling. Grief can be caused by many experiences and events, so if you feel that you are having trouble moving on from a certain event or find that it is still impacting your life and functioning, grief and loss counseling can help you process it more effectively so that you can move on and once again find fulfillment and satisfaction in your life.
There are many counseling theories for treating grief, one of the most frequently used being the dual process model of grief which helps people acknowledge who or what they’ve lost through rumination while also adjusting to the new roles and identities that this loss has now placed on them. There are also many commonly used therapy approaches used in grief and loss counseling, including Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and traumatic grief therapy.
Grief & loss counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
For many, grief and loss counseling lasts for about 6 months. For others, it may last shorter or longer, depending on the severity of their loss and their grief.
