Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I always knew I wanted to help others, I just didn't know how or what that would look like. As I learned more about the profession of social work, I knew it was what I meant to be doing. Being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker can be challenging and stressful at times but so rewarding when I see my clients achieve progress and reach their goals.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with clients who are seeking a meaningful and collaborative relationship with their clinician. I love working with individuals from all walks of life and I'm always up for a good challenge.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
1 in 5 adults will experience challenges with their mental health during the year. There is no shame in not having all the answers. Therapy may feel challenging at times but also inspiring and rewarding when you being to see and feel progress.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks is a supportive and great place to practice. It's so fun to consult with and get to know clinicians from all over the country. I really enjoy making these connections and learning new things. I also enjoy a healthy work/life balance and I know that my work is meaningful and appreciated.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by my clients! My clients constantly demonstrate a resilience that is refreshing and amazing to see. Watching my clients grow, achieve their goals, and overcome barriers is so rewarding and inspirational.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
For many clients, the first session is the most difficult because they don't know what to expect. My clients can expect in their first session answers to many of their questions about therapy and what the process looks like. They can also expect a compassionate active listener. I will hear your goals for therapy and we will begin to work together to develop some helpful objectives to assist in achieving those goals.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
The most important accomplishment for a first session is establishing a meaningful therapeutic relationship. This lays a foundation for a trusting relationship in which therapy will be impactful and significant.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I am here to help, not judge. Don't be fearful of the process. Whatever your needs and goals are, we will work together to find solutions.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my spare time, I love to spend it with my two kiddos. They are hilarious and keep me on my toes! I also love to engage in hobbies and volunteer for organizations specifically involved in community wellness.
