What is your go-to approach for individual therapy?

My go-to approach for helping people in individual therapy is to help the person find the best solution for their individual problem or situation. My clients are experts on their own lives. I also incorporate in my go-to approach, which is separating the problem from the person. The problem is the problem. I enjoy helping people separate the person they are from the problem. Additionally, I enjoy helping people with universal questions concerning death, freedom, existential isolation, and meaninglessness.

What tools do you teach in individual therapy?

I teach the following tools in individual therapy:

  • Social skills training
  • Boundaries
  • Communication skills/assertiveness training
  • Thought stopping
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Challenging/understanding stereotypes
  • Personal validation
  • Personal advocating
  • Reframing the problem
  • Increase personal choices
  • Dr. Frankl's “Healing through reason”

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in individual therapy?

I know a client is making meaningful progress in individual therapy when the person has an “aha” moment. Many times an “aha” moment comes from just talking out the problem.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement individual therapy?

Clients can supplement their time in individual therapy by practicing skills taught or by doing their therapeutic homework. Homework is a collaborative decision by the client and the therapist.

What should someone do to prepare for starting individual therapy?

To prepare for your first individual therapy session, you can make a list of issues you are struggling with in your life and bring them to your 1st therapy appointment. You can also imagine what it would be like if you woke up tomorrow and your issues were no longer a problem in your life.

Starting Individual therapy in Jacksonville

What is individual therapy?

Individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, allows people to engage in private sessions with a skilled therapist, counselor, or psychologist. The core objective of individual therapy is to establish a secure and confidential setting where you can openly discuss whatever emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges you face. Through these one-on-one sessions, the client and therapist work together to delve into, comprehend, and ultimately find solutions for the issues at hand in their life.

How does individual therapy work?

Individual therapy unfolds in a structured process, commencing with an initial assessment in which the therapist gathers essential information about your history, concerns, and objectives. Together, you and your therapist collaboratively establish specific, attainable goals for your sessions, which can encompass symptom alleviation, personal development, or finding solutions to particular challenges.
