I completed my bachelor's degree and floundered, not finding a career that felt right before returning to school to become a nurse, then nurse practitioner. Throughout school, I was the go-to person when others needed someone to listen, so mental health and psychiatry felt like the obvious choice. I have worked in a variety of settings, from the corrections to mental health crisis centers.
