Asperger’s Group Therapy for Young Adults in Chesterfield
What is ASD?
Asperger syndrome now comes under the single umbrella term of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). People with Asperger syndrome have a wide range of strengths, weaknesses, skills and difficulties. Common characteristics include difficulty in forming friendships, communication difficulties , and an inability to understand social rules and body language.
Although Asperger syndrome cannot be cured, appropriate intervention and experience can help people to develop skills, use strategies to compensate and help build coping skills. Counseling or psychological therapy, including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) can help people with Asperger syndrome to understand and manage their behavioral responses.
Young adulthood is a time of transition. Transition can be exciting and anxiety provoking. The emotional demands associated with phase of life transitions are only complicated for individuals diagnosed with ASD (Austim Spectrum Disorder).
