About
As a queer-identified man of color, I understand the unique challenges of identity exploration and intersectionality. I care for my clients with empathy, cultural awareness, and a collaborative approach, creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to navigate your changes and grow.
My name is Jideofor Azie. I am a compassionate mental health professional dedicated to supporting individuals through life's challenges with empathy, cultural humility, and evidence-based care. I have clinical experience working with diverse populations across a range of settings and draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and strengths-based practices to tailor care to each individual's unique needs. I typically work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, stress, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, substance use challenges, schizophrenia, ADHD, life transitions, PTSD, and relationship challenges.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I take a holistic, patient-centered approach to assessment, medication management, and therapy. I consider biological, psychological, and social factors to tailor care to each person. Clients can expect a collaborative, respectful approach combining medication, education, therapy, and coping strategies for well-being.
I understand that reaching out can feel like a big and sometimes uncertain step, but you don't have to navigate it alone. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported as you move toward greater balance and well-being. If you're ready to begin, I invite you to schedule an appointment—I would be honored to work alongside you.

Hello, I'm Christian Nwofor, PMHNP-BC, licensed in Texas. I provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and supportive therapy to adolescents and adults through telehealth and in-person settings. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based. I combine medication management with supportive therapy and psychoeducation to help clients understand their symptoms. Taking the first step toward treatment can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to face it alone. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or simply feeling stuck, I'm committed to a safe, supportive space where you feel heard. I believe healing and growth are possible for everyone, wherever you are. I welcome the chance to support you.

Raymond Obiajulu is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He completed his master’s degree program at Walden University. After his introduction to the key areas of nursing, he found that psychiatry comprised the exact sort of comprehensive and holistic healthcare that he wished to practice. Raymond has experience treating a wide range of conditions including but not limited to anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, and dementia. He incorporates an evidence-based approach in his practice with a focus on holistic mental health treatment.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, he serves as a patient advocate, providing continuity of care, managing total care, and attending to issues that affected his patients' physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Raymond looks forward to collaborating with his colleagues and other healthcare team members to provide the best patient care possible to our community, while they teach, learn, and build lifelong relationships with their patients and each other. He is passionate about serving mankind, as it has also been a part of his life's journey.
Raymond loves to extend the motto of helping his patients fulfill their needs, as it helps him fulfill his own. After all, as Mahatma Gandhi said, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." He strives to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each unique individual and their life goals. His goal is for his patients to feel confident with their plan of care and know that together they will work together to achieve their goals.

Julie Burnett is a counselor with 11 years of experience. Her focus is working with clients ages 11 and older — individuals, couples, and/or families. Julie believes that all people deserve to be treated with respect and, therefore, respect is a foundational part of her counseling sessions. Julie specializes in general mental health, relationships, grief and loss, domestic abuse, and parenting. She believes that clients are the experts on their own lives, so they are the ones to choose the topics for each session while Julie brings various techniques that can help. Together they create healthy life goals and decide what techniques they want to try. Julie believes that she is here simply to be a helping hand, a listening ear, and a friendly guide as the client navigates through difficult times. In order to help clients find their way to healing on the other side of pain, Julie provides new insights, teaches new skills, introduces new knowledge, helps to broaden the client’s focus, and encourages clients to practice new skills. While Julie will never preach to the client or try to change their beliefs about faith, as a Christian, she views the world through a biblical lens.
Since she was young, Julie has wanted to help people work through their problems so they can have happier, healthier lives. She often found herself being the one her friends went to for help with their problems. She saw counseling as a way to help others. During her studies she was excited to learn that the best helping skill is listening non-judgmentally, the one skill she had been practicing since she was young. She also learned many other counseling techniques and skills that she integrates into sessions with clients. Since earning her counseling degree in 2011, she has served in a variety of settings. She has worked with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, with active and recently retired military personnel, and with high school students. She has also kept a private practice where she has been able to work with all ages and a variety of issues. As she has worked with clients throughout the years, she has found that, regardless of age, healthy relationships and boundary setting are typically common goals for clients as we all strive to live a healthy, productive life. Julie allows the client to lead the session while she helps keep it focused on the path toward healing and healthy life goals. Some of the therapies Julie uses include person-centered, Adlerian, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness.
Julie understands that reaching out for counseling can be a scary time for clients. But she would like you to know that you have nothing to fear from her. Counseling with Julie is a safe space where all emotions are welcome, she will not judge you for your thoughts, actions, or emotions! Julie has been told that she is a very down-to-earth counselor, and she is excited to meet you and help you begin your journey on the path to a healthier and more joyful life.

In Houston, your cost depends on whether you use insurance or pay out of pocket. With insurance, most patients pay a copay between $0 and $55 per session. If you’re self-pay, rates vary by state—typically $200 to $240 for your first therapy session and $160 to $195 for follow-ups, or $300 to $375 for an initial psychiatry session and $210 to $300 for follow-ups. Contact our Houston office or visit our pricing page to learn more.
Yes, Thriveworks Houston accepts insurance to help cover services, including individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and psychiatry. Couples and family therapy aren’t always covered the same way, since some plans only cover sessions considered medically necessary.
We’ll verify your insurance and estimate your out-of-pocket cost for you before your first session, but it’s still worth confirming your specific benefits with your insurer, especially if your plan requires pre-authorization (advance approval from your insurer before certain treatments are covered).
Fit matters more than almost anything else in therapy. Research consistently shows the relationship between you and your therapist is one of the strongest predictors of whether treatment actually works, no matter their approach. Start by thinking about what you want help with, then browse provider profiles in Houston and filter by specialty, insurance, and availability to find someone who feels right for you. If your first session doesn’t click, no problem. You can switch providers anytime, no fees, no hassle.
All three support mental health in different ways. A therapist provides talk therapy to help you work through challenges; a psychologist also provides therapy, but their doctoral training lets them do psychological testing and formal evaluations; a psychiatrist is a medical provider who can prescribe medication.
Thriveworks Houston offers therapy and psychiatry together, so you can get the right type of care—or a combination—in one place. For more detail, see our straightforward guide to mental health care professionals.
Most patients at Thriveworks Houston see a provider within six days. We offer flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends. Book online or call our Houston office to find the soonest session with a therapist or psychiatric provider.
Yes. Psychiatric providers at Thriveworks Houston can prescribe and manage medication, and many patients pair that with talk therapy from a separate provider. Our team coordinates the two together.
Your first session is mostly about getting to know each other. Your therapist will ask what brought you in, talk through your history and goals, and start shaping a plan for care. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with—the first session is a conversation, not a test. Want more detail? Here’s exactly what to expect, step by step.
Yes. Thriveworks Houston offers both in-person sessions at our local office and online (telehealth) sessions, so you can choose what’s most convenient and switch between the two as your needs change.
