About
As a woman with a plethora of experiences, including loss, trauma, and adjustments, I have an in-depth understanding of how varied circumstances in life can affect our well-being.
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 9 years of experience supporting clients across all ages. I provide evidence-based care for autism, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, mood disorders, and adjustment disorders. I integrate psychotherapy, medication management, and personalized treatment planning to help each client strengthen daily functioning and move toward a healthier, more balanced life.
I earned my master's degree in nursing from Walden University. My approach is nonjudgmental, collaborative, and grounded in compassion. I focus on creating a safe, respectful environment where clients feel welcomed, heard, and supported. I pay close attention to details, honor each person’s strengths, and work to build trust throughout the treatment process.
I believe mental health impacts every part of life, and I am committed to helping clients create meaningful, lasting change. I support people from all backgrounds and encourage you to share your concerns openly. Together, we can explore your needs, build healthier coping skills, and take the next steps on your treatment journey.

As a mother, daughter, and friend who has experienced personal trauma and loss, I have a genuine understanding of how we are impacted by painful life circumstances and how building of new life skills can empower us once again.
I'm Carrie, and I'm a licensed professional counselor. I graduated from Lamar University in August 2024 with a master's degree in counseling and development, and I earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston–Downtown in 2012 with a major in psychology and a minor in sociology. I have worked in the field for about 14 years. I am a boy mom and cat lover—I have four sons (two of my own and two bonus) and a husband who keeps me on my toes. I work with clients of all ages and various concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, parenting, and more.
Different experiences throughout my life have led me to want to help others. Above all, being the daughter of a beloved father who struggled with addiction, dealing with trauma, and the intense grief from his passing have been the major driving forces of my motivation. I have an integrative approach to counseling and hope to grow with you at Thriveworks, offering a safe space to work toward your goals while guiding and empowering you.
My goal is to offer a safe, warm, nonjudgmental space for you to share, grow, and feel encouraged. I hope you will take the next step by scheduling an appointment today. You've got this—I can't wait to connect!
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

Domestic violence therapy is a specialized form of counseling that helps victims and their families heal from abusive relationships. It is a crucial component of the broader efforts to address and combat domestic violence, a pattern of abusive behaviors within intimate relationships that can encompass physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, or economic abuse.
In domestic violence therapy, therapists create a safe and supportive environment. Domestic violence therapy is often part of a broader support network that includes legal assistance, shelters, and community resources. Its aim is to break the cycle of abuse, promote safety, and foster healthier relationships.
Domestic violence therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Domestic violence therapy can last for a few weeks, months, or longer, depending on the individual’s exact needs and preferences.
You don’t have to deal with the symptoms of domestic abuse on your own. You don’t have to live in fear. You don’t have to live with shame. You don’t have to blame yourself. There is help out there. If you’re ready to move on to the next phase in your life then you’re ready to get the help of an experienced counselor.
Thriveworks Counseling in Houston, TX has domestic abuse counselors who can help you now. To schedule an appointment, just call our team. We are here to help you and we hope to hear from you soon.
There’s no question that the things that happened in our past affect the way we feel, think, and act. However, you can control how the abuse affects you today. You may not be able to change that it happened but you can get control of your life back. We can help.
The long-term effects of domestic abuse are significant and long-lasting. It’s not a matter of simply having hurt feelings or a bruised body. It’s a matter of your brain being rewired to survive the abuse. It can be rewired again but you’ll need the help of a counselor. At Thriveworks Counseling in Houston, TX, we can provide a safe space for you to deal with what you’ve been through.
There are often commonalities between abuse victims. For example, their abusers often go through a specific cycle of violence. They often deal with the same results of their abuse: depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, PTSD, and physical symptoms like headaches and chronic aches and pains. However, no matter how similar – or dissimilar – your story is to anyone else’s, you’re still unique. You still need personalized help.
When you work with a counselor at Thriveworks in Houston, TX, we can help you understand what you’ve been through. We can help you understand that all the abuse you endured – whether physical, emotional, and / or sexual – was not your fault. You were not to blame. You really can get control of your life back. Plus, Thriveworks offers many benefits to clients including convenient evening and weekends sessions, same-week appointments, and most major insurances accepted. Let us help lead you down the path to recovery.
