Therapy for men maintains a focus on the emotional and mental impacts of being a man in society, dealing with issues like the pressures of toxic masculinity and the traditional familial roles of men, among others. Thriveworks The Woodlands therapists who specialize in treating men work to create a safe space for them to emote and care for their mental well-being without fear of judgment.
Therapy for men has many aspects of traditional psychotherapy, but it also maintains a clear person-centered and humanistic approach. Thriveworks The Woodlands therapists will work with men to reach their therapy goals through self-reflection and introspection—uncovering specific emotional, behavioral, and mental patterns that are having a negative effect or are inhibiting personal growth and slowly working to change them over time.
Therapy for men at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Therapy for men can last for a few months or occur over the course of years, often continuing until the client feels that their goals are met and their desired growth has been achieved. However, it will likely last at least five months, as that is the average amount of time it takes for the therapeutic process to take effect and bring about lasting change.
Counseling for men at Thriveworks in The Woodlands is built to help you gain a deeper understanding of what is going on in your life and give you the action steps to heal, grow, and succeed in the ways you have imagined for yourself.

Whatever you are facing, Thriveworks The Woodlands promises to be client-centered and nonjudgmental. Our clients come in facing problems from college graduation to messy divorces to trauma. Nothing you bring in will be too big or too small for our The Woodlands counselors.
Our goal is not to tell you what to do or make all your problems disappear, but to be by your side as we problem solve and heal together. Sometimes, all you need is a little space to simply be- to process, sit, and explore.
Other times, you need more advanced therapeutic techniques to help you. Our The Woodlands therapists are trained and excellent in both.
Many of the therapeutic techniques you will encounter in a Counseling for Men session can be found in other topic-specific sessions. It’s how our counselors apply these techniques that will be different. Society has taught you to push away emotions, think practically, and fill the role you’ve been assigned.
Thriveworks in The Woodlands thinks society has no place telling you how to think, feel, and live. When the expectations of society are weighing heavily on you, we can help lift some of the load. Taking a step back and acknowledging the stereotypes you’re expected to fit into is often the first step in finding your freedom.
Any issue can be address in Counseling for Men, but some are more common than others. A few of the more common situations we see in Men’s Counseling include:
Just as your physical or financial health is important enough to dedicate time and energy towards them, your mental and emotional health is just as important in living a healthy, well balanced, and fulfilling life. It can seem impossible to juggle them all, but our counselors in The Woodlands are here to teach you how and encourage you every step of the way!
You have the power to make yourself into the person you want to be. The path society has set for you doesn’t have to be the path you follow. For more information, or to schedule an appointment today, give us a call at 281-667-9790.
