What is your go-to approach for PTSD/trauma therapy?

For individuals needing assistance with PTSD, I recommend connecting with a clinician who specializes in trauma work so that you better understand your coping response while also processing emotions and memories associated with the traumatic event. Trauma work can assist in learning tools and skills to engage in more adaptive ways of coping.

What tools do you teach in PTSD/trauma therapy?

In trauma work, one will learn to better understand their coping response while also processing emotions and memories associated with the traumatic event. Trauma work can assist in learning tools and skills to engage in more adaptive ways of coping.

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in PTSD/trauma therapy?

It is evident that a client is making meaningful progress when they are able to utilize tools when thinking about the traumatic event or experiencing associated triggers to the event with a more adaptive coping response. Additionally, when one feels more grounded in sharing the event and its impact on them as a narrative without any associated overwhelming physiological responses.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement PTSD/trauma therapy?

Listen to the guidance of your clinician while also engaging in meditation, mindfulness, journaling, and self-compassionate exercises.
