Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a counselor because I have personally experienced and witnessed trauma, loss, and life's unexpected challenges. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the impact difficult circumstances can have on emotional well-being, as well as the resilience people can develop through support, selfdiscovery, and skill-building. I am passionate about helping others navigate their struggles, recognize their strengths, and find hope and healing. It is a privilege to walk alongside clients as they work toward growth, recovery, and a more fulfilling life.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adolescents and adults experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I also support couples and families working through communication and emotional distress. My clients are often seeking practical coping tools, emotional regulation skills, and support in building resilience and healing.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Progress includes ups and downs, moments of clarity alongside setbacks, and times when things feel harder before they feel better. Therapy is a team work focus on developing insight, building skills, and learning new ways to respond to life’s challenges. Even small steps forward matter, and change often happens gradually over time with consistency, patience, and support.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive safe space where we begin by discussing what brings them to therapy, their current concerns, and what they hope to gain from the process. I also gather relevant background information to better understand their experiences and needs. In the early stages of therapy, we focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship, identifying key goals, and developing initial coping strategies to support stability and emotional regulation. The pace is collaborative and guided by each client’s comfort, with an emphasis on safety, trust, and clarity around the therapeutic process.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is informed by both professional training and personal experiences with trauma and loss, which have shaped my understanding of how deeply life’s challenges can affect emotional well-being. I value compassion, authenticity, and resilience, and I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, respected, and genuinely understood. I believe in the capacity for growth and healing, even in the midst of significant pain, and I am committed to walking alongside clients as they build insight, strengthen coping skills, and move toward meaningful change.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by meeting each client where they are and adjusting my approach based on their individual needs, goals, and readiness for change. I draw from a range of evidence-based, traumainformed interventions and collaboratively select strategies that best fit the client’s presenting concerns and personal strengths. Some clients benefit more from skill-building and structure, while others need space for processing and reflection. Throughout the process, I remain flexible and client-centered, regularly reassessing goals and pacing to ensure therapy feels relevant, supportive, and effective for each person’s unique experience.
