Has your emotional pain reached a critical point? Do you feel more anxious and scared lately? Do you need guidance dealing with a specific issue in your life? Are you feeling overwhelmed with sadness and loneliness? I provide both brief therapy (1-12 sessions) with a very specific focus and long-term therapy to address deeper, underlying issues. Coming to therapy is often viewed as a weakness, however I appreciate how risky and anxiety ridden it can feel to open up to a complete stranger. In my professional experience, coming to therapy requires a great deal of courage and determination, deliberately and consciously facing yourself.

He spent most  of his career working for a nonprofit agency that continues to serve trauma impacted  children and families in the San Francisco, Bay Area. Gregory Salmon

Gregory Salmon, PMHNP

Philosophy of Care

My philosophy of care as a psych nurse practitioners direct me toward diagnose and treating mental illness through psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, case management, and clinical supervision. I as a provider function independently to meet patient care needs within my scope of practice. Psychiatric Nursing to me is all about the relationship you establish with your patients, understanding them from their perspective and asking them what they think is going on with their health or what has been changing in their body and mind. I like to ask, how do you feel? What do you think? Asking these questions gives me a door to perceive patients in a holistic manner. It helps me as a psychiatric NP understand if patient’s symptoms are just physical or are psychological. Someone may be experiencing a lot of life stressor and not eating right, or not drinking a lot of water. As a result they start experiencing a lot of headache. Instead of thinking it is a migraine and heavily medicating the patient the best treatment at times is simply to encourage the patient to think positively and demonstrate relaxation techniques and they will do better in every aspect of life including health.

Philosophy of Care

Kimberly Deutsch is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. Kimberly is also comfortable providing care during some of life’s most delicate times, including pregnancy. She desires to provide high-quality care to everyone she encounters.

She also takes side effects and difficulties with medications seriously and is willing to discuss changes or even specific medication requests to determine if a treatment is appropriate.

During the initial appointment, Kimberly will review psychiatric and medical history and complete a thorough evaluation, including previous medication trials that were or were not successful. After collecting the necessary information, she will review diagnoses, provide education as needed, and discuss treatment options. In this day and age it is so hard to be seen and heard, to know if we are “normal” and “fit in with society.”  If you are having issues navigating troubled thoughts, unmotivated to reach your goals, concerns with substance abuse, or relationship/ marriage problems, I would love the opportunity to work with you.  I meet clients where they are and identify what concerns have brought you to therapy. We come up with a plan together to help you reach your goals in therapy. I have experience working with individual clients, couples, adolescents and young children. I use multiple interventions and identify those specifically to meet each clients needs.

A little about myself, my education concentrated on counseling and I earned a Masters in Social work and Education in Human Sexuality.  Where I focused on identified sexual functioning issues, and working with relationship problems with couples primarily concentrating on sexual concerns. In addition my education focused on working with the LGBTQIA populations.   I worked extensively with clients who have experienced trauma, PTSD, parenting and issues with children. I have experience running women’s groups, sex education, early recovery, and couples groups. My theoretical orientation is psycho dynamic, ego psych, family systems therapy.  I use interventions such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, trauma informed and strength based. I currently hold my LCSW in the state of PA and have been working and living with my family in the Center City area since 2015.
