I love that my therapist is very grounded in the basics (breathe, get rest, cut yourself some slack). Very helpful to my over intellectualizing brains

About Jill
Jill Lamar is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania. Jill’s specialties include helping clients with anxiety, depression, grief, couples therapy, and working with adolescents and clients in their 20s, adjusting to the challenges of life and the changes they bring, as well as perceived academic or vocational underperformance.
Jill treats survivors of abuse of all kinds, as well as those who struggle with addictions and other compulsive behaviors, and (in conjunction with a medical professional) dual-diagnosis conditions. She has a history of faith-based counseling but exercises unconditional positive regard for those who don't share her perspective, and has proven successful in their treatment.
Jill completed her Bachelor's degree in Economics at Arizona State University and received her Master's degree in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. She draws on the wisdom of her life experience (30 years in corporate life), a drive to discover helpful truths in each client’s story, and a passionate desire to see what feels broken or hurtful healed in her clients' lives so they can return to more joyful, productive living.

"I'm here to listen, support you, offer compassion, and express concern when appropriate in an effort to help you become a more effective communicator, partner and/or parent, and bring lasting hope and joy into your life."

Get to know Jill
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I'd already had two successful careers and I wanted to give back to others.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
That talking and doing their best to reveal what they're thinking and feeling, what's working or not, will help them get the most out of their therapeutic experience.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A smile, a warm personality, and a therapist eager to get to know and help them.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
A connection that's comfortable, and to acquire enough information to chart a course for moving forward in their treatment.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Look for every opportunity to experience joy and to laugh. I take long walks, cook, read, watch films, spend time with friends, go to church, and try to make my cat happy (the hardest part).
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My laugh.
