About
I offer a space where your story is honored and your feelings matter, so you can begin moving toward the life you deserve.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) with 7 years of experience working with a wide range of clients. I specialize in supporting neurodivergent individuals, trauma survivors, and those navigating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and life transitions. I also have experience working with LGBTQIA+ clients and those facing challenges such as self-esteem issues, relationship and family concerns, sleep issues, substance use, grief, borderline personality disorder, and OCD.
I received my Master of Social Work from Wayne State University and my Bachelor of Social Work from Eastern Michigan University. I believe clients are the experts of their own experiences, so I use a person-centered, compassion-focused, and culturally sensitive approach tailored to their unique needs.
Life can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to go through it alone. I strive to provide a safe and supportive space where you can freely express yourself, build resilience, and find hope. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey and encourage you to schedule an appointment today.

I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 16 years of experience supporting individuals and families navigating depression, anxiety, substance-use concerns, mood disorders, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I earned my master’s degree in community counseling from Argosy University. I work creatively and flexibly to tailor treatment to each person or couple I serve.
My goal is to help you piece together the parts of your life so you can move toward wholeness. My go-to approach for helping people in dialectical behavior therapy is like traditional CBT, DBT focuses on change: If we can change the way we think, we can change the way we feel. However, DBT adds something new: It also focuses on acceptance. We must accept the things we cannot change.
I teach the following tools in dialectical behavior therapy includes four modules—Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance.
I know a client is making meaningful progress in dialectical behavior therapy when they focus on the present to accept things as they are without judgment.
Clients can supplement their time in dialectical behavior therapy with coping skills.
To prepare for their first dialectical behavior therapy session, an individual can complete all needed documents.
At Thriveworks, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) primarily concentrates on assisting individuals in emotion regulation, enhancing interpersonal relationships, and acquiring effective coping strategies for managing stress and emotional difficulties.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) targets your personal challenges. You may work with your DBT therapist to maintain diary cards to monitor progress, emphasizing validation and support in the therapeutic relationship. DBT follows a stage-based approach, prioritizing crisis reduction initially and life satisfaction.
DBT was initially developed to address the needs of individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, its versatile approach has enabled its application to a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, stress, and anger issues.
The 4 pillars of DBT are mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) have distinct purposes and aren’t inherently superior or inferior to one another. DBT is most effective for managing emotional regulation, personality disorders, and interpersonal challenges, while EMDR is specifically tailored for individuals with trauma-related conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) with therapists at Thriveworks in Smyrna, GA is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The duration of a standard DBT program is typically around 24 weeks, which is roughly six months. The actual number of sessions will vary depending on the issues you wish to address.
