About
As a therapist, my goal is to assist clients in understanding how the past impacts today's behaviors, thoughts, and choices.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 16 years of experience supporting individuals and families navigating depression, anxiety, substance-use concerns, mood disorders, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I also have extensive experience working with those impacted by traumatic events and substance-use history. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your emotions, deepen self-awareness, and begin healing with support that meets your unique needs.
I earned my master’s degree in community counseling from Argosy University. I use mindfulness-based and spiritually-informed approaches, along with dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution-focused techniques. I work creatively and flexibly to tailor treatment to each person or couple I serve.
My goal is to help you piece together the parts of your life so you can move toward wholeness. I value open, honest dialogue because healing begins when we can acknowledge our pain without fear or judgment. Together, we can build clarity, foster resilience, and create meaningful pathways toward the life you want

My go-to approach for helping people in dialectical behavior therapy is like traditional CBT, DBT focuses on change: If we can change the way we think, we can change the way we feel. However, DBT adds something new: It also focuses on acceptance. We must accept the things we cannot change.
I teach the following tools in dialectical behavior therapy includes four modules—Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance.
I know a client is making meaningful progress in dialectical behavior therapy when they focus on the present to accept things as they are without judgment.
Clients can supplement their time in dialectical behavior therapy with coping skills.
To prepare for their first dialectical behavior therapy session, an individual can complete all needed documents.
At Thriveworks, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) primarily concentrates on assisting individuals in emotion regulation, enhancing interpersonal relationships, and acquiring effective coping strategies for managing stress and emotional difficulties.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) targets your personal challenges. You may work with your DBT therapist to maintain diary cards to monitor progress, emphasizing validation and support in the therapeutic relationship. DBT follows a stage-based approach, prioritizing crisis reduction initially and life satisfaction.
DBT was initially developed to address the needs of individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, its versatile approach has enabled its application to a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, stress, and anger issues.
The 4 pillars of DBT are mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) have distinct purposes and aren’t inherently superior or inferior to one another. DBT is most effective for managing emotional regulation, personality disorders, and interpersonal challenges, while EMDR is specifically tailored for individuals with trauma-related conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
