About Provider

About Katelyn

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 7 years of experience working with a wide range of clients. I specialize in supporting neurodivergent individuals, trauma survivors, and those navigating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and life transitions. I also have experience working with LGBTQIA+ clients and those facing challenges such as self-esteem issues, relationship and family concerns, sleep issues, substance use, grief, borderline personality disorder, and OCD.

I received my Master of Social Work from Wayne State University and my Bachelor of Social Work from Eastern Michigan University. I believe clients are the experts of their own experiences, so I use a person-centered, compassion-focused, and culturally sensitive approach tailored to their unique needs.

Life can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to go through it alone. I strive to provide a safe and supportive space where you can freely express yourself, build resilience, and find hope. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey and encourage you to schedule an appointment today.

Get to know Katelyn

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

My decision to become a counselor arose from my own time in therapy. I saw firsthand how powerful it was to feel understood, and I became dedicated to creating a safe space for others to feel the same.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients who want to reflect on their feelings and discover what they need to grow and thrive.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I'm always excited to work with clients who are willing to try something new, even though it can be scary. I'm here to empower them and help them feel a little more comfortable with being uncomfortable.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

You don't have to be exactly sure what you want or how to get there; Simply setting up your 1st appointment and knowing you want some sort of change is enough.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

They give clinicians support while also honoring our autonomy.

What inspires you?

Client's willingness to be vulnerable and grow has always been inspiring to me. I feel honored to witness my clients' progress.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

In the first session, I will take time to learn about you and what brought you to therapy. I will also ask you some follow up questions to get a better understanding of what your goals are and how I can help.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

In our first session, I want to start earning your trust by actively listening to your concerns and questions, helping you understand what to expect from therapy, and start collaborating on goals.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

I like therapy to be a collaborative process. I want to take the approach that feels best for you, so I frequently check in with clients to get their feedback.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

Outside of work, I like experimenting with fashion and makeup and watching sports.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I'm a thoughtful and passionate person who enjoys exploring and understanding things I care about.
