I hope to utilize my cultural perspective and life experience to guide clients through life's challenges and share with them the tools needed for recovery and to live life to the fullest.
Hello, my name is Allison. I am an LPC licensed in Texas. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling at Houston Baptist University in 2019. While gaining my experience hours, I worked in both the hospital and private practice setting at the height of the pandemic. I have served patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, both adolescents and adults across the lifespan, with mental health and substance abuse treatment. I have experience helping those with trauma, chronic health issues, LGBTQ+ and cultural concerns, and those struggling with recent life changes such as divorce, loss of a loved one, etc.
I utilize the DBT framework as it addresses changes clients may want to make as well as sharing skills that will help with acceptance, and the irreverent style still provides empathy and care allowing for clients to feel heard and not talked at. I also utilize CBT, ACT, EMDR, as well as addressing the mind-body connection.
I know how it feels to be looking for answers, to need a safe space to be yourself and figure out life's path. I hope to be part of that place for clients and look forward to being a part of your journey.

OCD counseling is a specialized therapeutic approach aimed at supporting individuals coping with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The goal of this counseling is to help clients manage and alleviate the distressing symptoms of OCD by systematically addressing their obsessive thought patterns and compulsive behaviors.
In OCD counseling, Thriveworks McKinney therapists use cognitive behavioral techniques, including exposure and response prevention, to assist you in addressing and managing your obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. An OCD therapist will collaborate with you to identify and modify irrational thought patterns while gradually and gently exposing you to anxiety-triggering situations, helping to disrupt the cycle of obsessive-compulsive rituals and promote healthier coping strategies.
Thriveworks OCD counseling in McKinney, TX is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The number of sessions for OCD counseling is variable, contingent upon the individual’s unique needs, the severity of their condition, and their progress during treatment. Typically, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), commonly used for OCD, comprises around 12 to 16 weekly sessions, but the exact session count can be customized based on the individual’s response to treatment and therapeutic objectives.
