What is your go-to approach for online therapy?

I feel that online therapy can be helpful and more easily accessible for many people.

What tools do you teach in online therapy?

I teach:

  • Positive self-talk
  • Deep breathing exercises
  • Listing activities that can help reduce stress.

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in online therapy?

I know a client is making progress in online therapy by their self-reports of feeling better as well as other positive statements about themselves.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement online therapy?

Clients can supplement their time in online therapy by reading self-help books as well as participating in positive activities.

What should someone do to prepare for starting online therapy?

To prepare for your first online therapy session you can test your Zoom app to make sure it is working properly. Also, you can list the main issues that you would like to address.

Starting Online therapy in Maitland

What is online therapy?

With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.

How does online therapy work?

Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.

What is the best option for online therapy?

There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.

Is online therapy just as effective?

Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.

How long does online therapy last?

Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.

How much does online therapy cost?

At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.

Need more help deciding?

When you’re sick or injured—perhaps you have a sore throat and a cough, or you’ve been in a car accident—what can you do to get better? You can pay a visit to the doctor’s office, or you can try to take care of your sickness and injury yourself. OR, you can combine the two: You can go to the doctor and also utilize a little self-care to nurse yourself back to health.

The same goes for when you’re struggling mentally or emotionally: say, you’re reeling after a fight with your spouse, you’re overwhelmed by grief following the loss of a loved one, or you’re feeling extremely stressed. What can you do to get better? You can talk to a mental health professional or you can try to take care of these challenges yourself. OR, you can combine the two: You can work with a counselor and also practice self-care to get back to a happier, healthier place.

Both our physical and mental wellbeing are extremely important. However, many of us place our physical health above our mental health. If you are ever struggling mentally, please put the same effort into healing and getting better. A counselor or another mental health professional can help you work through these mental health challenges and improve your state of wellbeing. If you feel nervous about beginning counseling, online counseling might be just the ticket. This approach to counseling is more comfortable and convenient, as you can talk to a counselor right from home. To schedule an online counseling session, use this page or call our office. Either way, we’re excited for the chance to work with you!

Is Online Counseling Effective? How Does It Work?

Some people feel nervous about or intimidated by counseling and that’s okay! It’s normal to feel uncertain about something new. That said, we want you to know that online counseling is a viable option if you are considering taking that leap. This approach to counseling enables and empowers people to make meaningful changes with the help of their counselor via telephone or video.

Both telephone counseling and video counseling are effective online counseling options. Choosing between the two comes down to personal preference. For example, if you would prefer not to see your counselor face-to-face, telephone counseling is probably the better option for you. If, however, you would like to see your counselor face-to-face during your sessions, video counseling is a great option for you!

Regardless of which online counseling option you choose, online counseling can help you make important progress in your life. Thriveworks Counseling would be honored if you chose to work with one of our skilled and compassionate providers.

What Kind of Counseling Is Offered Online?

The big difference between working with a counselor in person and working with a counselor online is the medium in which you’re working in. In in-person counseling, you’re obviously working with your counselor in-person or in office. And in online counseling, you’re working with your counselor online! You can enjoy the same mental health services in in-person and online counseling at Thriveworks, including:

  • Child therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Couples therapy
  • Marriage counseling
  • Depression therapy
  • Anxiety therapy
  • PTSD counseling
  • Trauma therapy
  • Grief counseling
  • Stress management
  • Life coaching

If you’re interested in one of these services (or even another that we haven’t mentioned), consider reaching out to Thriveworks Counseling. Our team is made up of skilled, talented counselors who have many different specialties, which allow them to offer many different services!
