Barbara is a nationally certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-NCC) who has over 15 years of combined experience with children, adolescents, adults, and couples seeking help with school issues, depression, anxiety, anger, stress management, grief, and relationship issues.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, a Master's degree in Counseling, a Master's degree in Human Sciences Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M University. Barbara utilizes person-centered therapy as a starting point between client and therapist. She has empathy for the client and unconditional positive regard for people which means she respects them and will not judge them.
Barbara commonly uses a combination of several approaches to counseling which include solutions-focused, rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and multi-generational therapy. So, your treatment will be customized, physical, psychosocial, and spiritual concerns considered, medical work-ups and therapy referrals included when indicated.
