About
I have channeled my life experiences, joyful and traumatic, into a strong sense of empathy, which I use to help clients explore their pain and possibilities.
I am a Licensed Social Worker with 2 years of experience. Before becoming a social worker, I spent 2 decades providing counseling and crisis intervention in the nonprofit sector. My work has included supporting individuals, couples, and groups from diverse backgrounds, including those navigating faith-based trauma and members of the LGBTQ+ community. I use a client-centered, strengths-based approach to guide healing and growth.
I received my Master’s in Social Work from West Chester University. My approach emphasizes safety, trust, and empowerment. I help clients define what healing looks like for them and create achievable goals along the way. I am trained in narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
I believe therapy is both humbling and transformative. It takes courage to seek help and open yourself to the process. My goal is to offer a compassionate space where you can explore, heal, and grow. When you feel ready, I invite you to reach out and schedule a session. I look forward to supporting you on your journey.

My go-to approach for helping teens is to validate how difficult it is to be a teenager and navigate being in high school/middle school. I also work on finding a common ground between myself and the client to increase trust and openness.
The tools I teach in teen therapy include effective communication, emotion regulation, boundary setting, positive self-talk, and self-compassion.
I know that an adolescent client is making meaningful progress when they have an easier time opening up and reaching out for support.
Clients can supplement their time in therapy by practicing daily self-care and healthy coping tools.
In order to prepare for the first session, you can work on identifying the areas of your life that you would like to work on and normalize getting help!
Teen counseling helps young individuals better understand and manage the challenges that affect their mental health. Common challenges amongst teens include anxiety, depression, ADHD, and problematic relationships with food.
Teen counseling works by using multiple techniques, tailored to fit the teen’s unique needs — based on their age group, their challenges, and the severity of their challenges. It might involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, art therapy, and others for varying ages. In any case, Thriveworks teen therapists in Philadelphia have the expertise and experience to help young individuals at their level.
Signs that teens might need Teen counseling can be very subjective, as they are experiencing many changes and can have intense reactions to them. As parents, you know your child best and are best equipped to judge whether certain reactions are standard behaviors for your teen or whether they might be hinting at a larger problem. Even so, there are a few common signs and events that often point to a need for therapy, such as experiencing divorce or loss, grief, consistent low moods, teens distancing themselves and becoming isolated, losing interest in hobbies, excessive anger or irritability, substance use issues, and suicidal ideation, among others.
Teen counseling providers at Thriveworks in Philadelphia, PA offer both in person and online therapy by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The length of teen counseling depends on your teen’s needs as well as the goals that you and their therapist might have for them. Generally, teen counseling sessions will last for several months.
