About Avis
Avis Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor (LPC-S) with over 13 years of experience working with clients of all ages. She specializes in treating anxiety, compassion fatigue, familial conflicts, marriage and couples, life transitions, and women's issues. Avis believes that the counseling experience is a very intimate experience that is designed with the client’s needs at the forefront.
Avis is very passionate about mental health. She believes that in order for you to be of value to anyone else, you must take care of yourself. She is eclectic in her approach to treatment, which means that she uses a variety of approaches to meet her clients’ needs. Most commonly, she utilizes a solutions-focused (SFT) approach. This means she meets you where you are while focusing on how to set realistic goals for your future.

The first session is designed to create a rapport between therapist and clients.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I strive to build a rapport with my clients in the first session while assisting them in feeling more comfortable in the therapeutic experience.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Travel with family and friends.
