I believe healing begins with being truly seen and heard, so I create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their stories, rediscover their strength, and grow toward lasting change.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 6 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through seasons of change, healing, and growth. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and life transitions, helping them build insight, strengthen communication, and develop healthier connections with themselves and others. My clients often come to therapy seeking peace, balance, and the confidence to live more authentically as we work toward meaningful, lasting change together.
I earned my master’s in secondary education and clinical mental health counseling from Alcorn State University. My approach is collaborative and grounded in empathy, using cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness techniques to help clients identify unhelpful patterns, build emotional awareness, and foster sustainable growth.
I understand that reaching out for support takes courage, and I want my clients to know they don’t have to walk this journey alone. Arlie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) in the state of Texas. His career has spanned from working with adults seeking help with life adjustments, depression, PTSD, trauma, domestic abuse, and survivors of sexual abuse. As a play therapist, he has worked in public schools and foster care with children needing support with ADHD, adjustment disorders, trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and behavioral concerns.
Arlie received his Bachelor’s degree from Excelsior University while on active duty and completed his Master of Arts counseling and play therapy certification from Regis University in Denver, CO. He is a retired military veteran with 26 years of service and over 7 years of professional counseling experience. Arlie uses several treatment approaches to meet the individual needs of each client. He is a person-centered clinician who believes in establishing a trusting relationship coupled with a genuine concern for the client’s needs. As an RPT, Arlie uses a child-centered play therapy approach. Children often cannot express themselves verbally; therefore, play can be used to help them express concerns while using toys for their words. While his baseline approach with adults is person-centered, he also uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and sand tray therapy dependent on the individual’s particular needs.

My go-to approach for helping people in teen counseling is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I find the best benefit of CBT is helping bring awareness to one’s internal processes and automatic thought patterns and giving them tools to evaluate the efficacy and validity of these thoughts and the ways that they influence behaviors.
I teach clients how to conceptualize and address the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in teen counseling. Examples include:
I know a client is making meaningful progress in teen counseling when the teen self-reports progress or when their parent or social supports acknowledge a change. Therapists can identify some changes during sessions, but feedback is the best way to know if progress is being made and goals are being achieved.
Clients can supplement their time in teen counseling with journaling, completing homework, acknowledging and working towards measurable goals, and maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle.
To prepare for their first teen counseling session, a teen can identify their problem and potential goals, know they can ask questions to the therapist, prepare to be open-minded and engaged in the session, and be on time for the appointment.
Teen counseling helps young individuals better understand and manage the challenges that affect their mental health. Common challenges amongst teens include anxiety, depression, ADHD, and problematic relationships with food.
Teen counseling works by using multiple techniques, tailored to fit the teen’s unique needs — based on their age group, their challenges, and the severity of their challenges.
