About
You got knocked down, we'll get you up again. Nothing's going to keep you down.
Anna Choquette is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 4 years of experience. She specializes in trauma-informed, affirming, culturally inclusive therapy for adults. Anna’s clients may be navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, and LGBTQIA+ experiences. Most of her career has been spent in spaces that try to make therapy less intimidating and more approachable for all. Anna prides herself on using non-traditional methods to supplement more well-known therapy styles, including the integration of video games during sessions to help ease tension, allow for stimming, and connect in-game quests to real life experiences.
Anna received her Master’s in Social Work from Ohio State University. Her client-centered, humanistic approach pulls from many different schools of therapy (narrative, psychodynamic, and cognitive, among others). Anna is certified in trauma response and crisis interventions and familiar with Gottman couples therapy.
When we can be authentically ourselves, it means that we can cry together, feel together, and ultimately heal. Anna strives to create a space where you can do the hard work, but it never feels too big to handle. No matter where you are in your journey, she looks forward to supporting you in your healing.

My 30+ years in clinical practice, combined with lessons learned through parenting my now adult children has shaped the way I engage in the sacred and playful art of pediatric psychotherapy. I currently only serve clients 5 to 13 years of age. Please note, to best support my clients and avoid conflicts of interest, I do not provide services to multiple children in the same family.
Debra Honig, MSW, LCSW, is a well-seasoned, enthusiastic, and authentic pediatric psychotherapist. She has practiced in many settings in the Chicago area, with a focus on children and their families. Debra uses humor, empathy, and creativity to help children and their families to navigate life's expected and unexpected challenges. Debra uses an eclectic and warm style and focuses on the client's strengths and uniqueness. Debra offers specialization in the areas of self-esteem, ADHD, coping with illness and life transitions, divorce, grief, loss, anxiety, and mood disorders. Her treatment room is always inviting for children, including art material, action figures, puppets, and games.
Debra completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at the Jane Addams College of Social Work, a college of the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her professional experience and training are further strengthened through personal experiences as an adoptive mom, stepmom, and foster parent. Debra utilizes an eclectic treatment approach incorporating expressive therapies, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused brief therapy.
Debra's philosophy is that everyone has roses and thorns from day to day. When it happens, it is important to talk about it, and use our coping strategies. That is the center of her work and helps create a safe and comfortable space for sharing and growth.
Debra currently only serves clients 5 to 13 years of age.

My go-to approach for treating anxiety is helping clients understand that anxiety has a reason. Emotions are our brain and body telling us something is up. I want people to understand that though anxiety isn't particularly fun to have, it's a reaction the body has to try to keep us safe. When we start to work with the anxiety instead of fighting it, it becomes less loud. We can honor anxiety without letting it control our lives.
I teach the following tools in anxiety therapy: understanding triggers, thought-feeling-action connections, breathing techniques, and grounding tools.
I know my client is making progress with their anxiety when they can remember coping skills and are able to utilize them, as well as when they can recognize their triggers and notice them before they turn into anxiety.
Clients can supplement their time in anxiety therapy by journaling and keeping track of their thoughts, feelings, and actions in anxiety-provoking situations. The more you're able to connect the three, the more you can stop the snowball into anxiety when you notice the patterns.
To prepare for your first anxiety therapy session, you can think about what makes your anxiety better or worse. That information helps me create a jumping-off point for our work together.
Anxiety therapy helps people better understand and manage their anxiety. Anxiety therapists at Thriveworks in Evanston, IL can develop a treatment plan that will help you better manage your day-to-day anxiety or your anxiety disorder.
Anxiety therapy involves talking to a therapist about symptoms, potential causes, and more. Thriveworks Evanston therapists will then work with you to determine where your anxiety might stem from and teach you effective coping mechanisms.
One of the best ways to deal with anxiety is to learn about your own anxiety: your symptoms, what triggers it, and what coping mechanisms have been effective in the past. When you learn what your anxiety is tied to, it can help you be mindful of what’s really happening as well as prevent and mitigate symptoms by processing and working through the issue in therapy. Other strategies that have been shown to help manage anxiety are meditation, challenging anxious thoughts, exercising, and journaling.
Common symptoms of anxiety include:
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can be incredibly effective in treating anxiety and anxiety disorders. Other effective techniques include exposure therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and EMDR therapy.
Anxiety therapy is conducted both in person and online, depending on the individual’s preferences and their therapist’s availability. We suggest choosing the option that best suits your needs.
On average, people can tend to attend 15 to 20 session of anxiety therapy (five or more months). However, this number is heavily dependent on the type of anxiety that’s being treated and its severity, with many choosing to attend anxiety therapy for a longer period of time to ensure its effectiveness long-term.
