About Anna
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with five years of experience specializing in trauma-informed, affirming, culturally inclusive therapy for adults. I most often work with clients navigating anxiety, OCD, trauma, and relationship struggles. I have a passion for working with the LGBTQIA+ community, including those who are in polyamorous and non-monogamous relationships. I pride myself on working to make therapy more approachable and less intimidating for all—including utilizing videogames in sessions.
Anna received her Master’s in Social Work from Ohio State University. Her client-centered, humanistic approach pulls from many different schools of therapy (narrative, psychodynamic, and cognitive, among others). Anna is certified in trauma response and crisis interventions and familiar with Gottman couples therapy.
When we can be authentically ourselves, it means that we can cry together, feel together, and ultimately heal. Anna strives to create a space where you can do the hard work, but it never feels too big to handle. No matter where you are in your journey, she looks forward to supporting you in your healing.

"You got knocked down, we'll get you up again. Nothing's going to keep you down."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
When I was younger I relied on the help and compassion of mental healthcare workers to help me get through some really rough patches in my life. Without them I wouldn't be the person I am today. I knew from a young age, after working with those professionals that I wanted to be able to help people like they helped me. They saw me for me, not whatever I was going through at the time. And I want others to feel like they are being seen as a person, not a diagnosis.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work primarily with adults who are looking to make their lives feel less heavy. Life will always throw us things that are unexpected, but it's my goal to fill up your toolbox so that you're prepared for it. All I ask is that you're motivated to learn and explore your mind!
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm excited to work with client who are motivated to change their lives. People who have recognized that something isn't working and are ready to collaborate to help find out what that is and take the steps to change it. It's ok to not know what's "wrong", we'll figure it out together!
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That I'm just another human. I might have the education and the therapy lingo, but at the end of the day I'm not an expert in your life--you are. I want to truly listen and hear you. I will never try and prove that I'm "better" than you. I want you to know that it's ok to ask questions and be curious about my recommendations.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I wanted a place that respected my knowledge in areas that I have worked hard to educate myself in, but also offer opportunities to continue to learn and grow as a clinician. I will never stop learning and bettering myself as a therapist and Thriveworks offered a job that would let me do that.
What inspires you?
Human nature's ingrained instinct to persevere in the face of anything.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
We'll go over consents/paperwork that you signed, then discuss your mental health history, as well as other aspects of your life. We won't get into the "deep stuff" immediately. You'll get the chance to know more about me and my therapy style, and I'll get to know more about you and what works best for you in therapy. The first session is all about getting comfortable.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to hear about you. Your goals, your accomplishments, what you do for fun. Everything that makes you you will help me get a better picture about how I can best help you in your mental health journey.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
It can seem really intimidating talking to a new therapist, even when you've been in therapy for years. The idea of telling someone new everything that's happening (or has happened) in your life can be overwhelming. But I encourage you to schedule a session with me. We'll take it at your pace.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I spend a lot of time baking bread! And while I'm waiting the days it takes to proof, I play videogames, tabletop role-playing games and spend time with my dog.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
When I set my mind to something I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure that thing happens, even if it takes years to get there.
