Hello, my name is Henry Clopton, and I'm a native Atlantan who believes in true communalism. I grew up on the Southwest side of Atlanta and attended Morehouse College and Georgia State University for my undergraduate work, then Georgia State for my master's in Rehabilitation Counseling. I'm currently in my third year of a Ph.D. program in the Humanities — with a double concentration in African American Studies and History — at Clark Atlanta University. I work with clients navigating self-esteem, anger, anxiety, depression, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, marriage and relationship struggles, existential issues, and more.
During sessions, I create comfort through real conversation — to erase any fears or stereotypes about the counseling process. When you're in the therapeutic space with me, I want you to feel proud, capable, and enough. From there, we do the root work together — through whatever uncomfortable moments of growth that takes.
My goal is to help you become the best version of yourself. I want to give you the tools to meet any challenge and be a positive influence in your community. My usual style for individual therapy is to first work on self-care, attachment, and education. I use several modalities from this. I find the skills and tools I provide benefit a client's growth, healing, and awareness because they allow them to understand, explore, and find answers to their feelings in a way that works best for them.
I use the following tools in therapy.
I know that clients are starting to make progress when their emotions become more natural to them, they feel less uncomfortable in expressing them, they feel empowered, and we start to see their ability to work through problems in a way that allows them to choose their response rather than just react.
During your time in therapy, I will frequently be giving homework and building skills with you. If you use your time to focus on and build those skills and practices, you will start to grow faster than you would just doing them in therapy.
To prepare for your first session, the thing I would say is most important is to try and stay open and remember that things are going to be uncomfortable. This will get easier over time, and you have the courage and strength inside of you to come get support for the changes you want to make in your world!

The duration of your individual therapy sessions will vary. The decision on the number and frequency of sessions is typically collaboratively determined by the client and therapist.
At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state.
