My go-to approach for treating anxiety is CBT interventions. I find the best benefit is found by increasing awareness of their triggers and supporting their ability to collect a “toolbox” of coping strategies.

What tools do you teach in anxiety therapy?

I teach the following tools in anxiety therapy:

  • Emotion recognition through the use of emotions and needs wheels
  • Awareness of communication styles: Using descriptors of communication such as passive, passive-aggressive, aggressive, and assertive to help them be able to communicate/express their emotions and be able to advocate for their needs.
  • Increasing awareness of cognitive distortions, AKA automatic negative thoughts (ANTS), and challenging and reframing those thoughts to be able to refocus their energy.
  • Regulation intervention: Engaging in pleasant activities, getting outside, engaging your senses, meditation, breath work, and affirmations.

I want to start off by saying that my two counselors I had were great, but the thrive works Business model is lacking a care for its clients. I had my heat go out and I missed my session because I was working for eight hours straight on it and was told that I shouldn’t have been working on my heat and made my appointment because it’s more important than my family. Will not recommend, and I had a horrible experience with Thrive works as a business model but again my two counselors were wonderful. I got nothing but respect for them.
