About
As an international student and immigrant, I bring both professional training and lived experience to my work. I understand the complexities of identity, cultural adjustment, and the pressure to meet high personal and external expectations. I'm especially attuned to clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck in cycles of overthinking, or disconnected from their sense of direction.
Hello, I'm Zhiran (Jack) Li, a Mental Health Counselor with 4 years of experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, and life transitions. As an international student and immigrant, I understand the unique pressures of balancing expectations, adapting to change, and finding a sense of belonging. I often work with clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck in patterns of overthinking, struggling with self-doubt, or seeking greater clarity, confidence, and direction in their personal and professional lives.
My approach is collaborative, practical, and goal-oriented. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, I help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop effective coping strategies, and build resilience. Clients can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where they gain insight and tools to create meaningful change.
I know reaching out for support can feel like a big step, and I honor the courage it takes to begin. My hope is to provide a space where you feel understood, supported, and not alone in what you're facing. If you're ready to start making meaningful change, I invite you to take the next step and begin this process together.

I am a master’s level clinician with 19 years of experience supporting adults, adolescents, and families through life transitions, stress, anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, and identity exploration. My name is Sarah Murphy, and I have worked in the mental health field for three years now. I primarily work with folks who deal with anxiety, depression, life adjustments, interpersonal relationships, and self-esteem. I have a history working in both community mental health and partial hospitalization programs, helping clients build resilience and develop sustainable ways to manage stress.
I use a variety of methods in my therapy sessions, such as CBT, DBT, expressive therapies, and coherence therapy to support clients in building on their strengths and working on sustainable ways to manage life's stressors. I focus on past patterns, and how they may inform how you behave now, and work from there.
I try to bring humor and empathy to my sessions, and I fully welcome anything and everything you may bring. I am looking forward to collaborating and making therapy a space for you to freely express yourself!
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

Teen counseling helps young individuals better understand and manage the challenges that affect their mental health. Common challenges amongst teens include anxiety, depression, ADHD, and problematic relationships with food.
Teen counseling works by using multiple techniques, tailored to fit the teen’s unique needs — based on their age group, their challenges, and the severity of their challenges. It might involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, art therapy, and others for varying ages. In any case, Thriveworks teen therapists in Franklin have the expertise and experience to help young individuals at their level.
Signs that teens might need Teen counseling can be very subjective, as they are experiencing many changes and can have intense reactions to them. As parents, you know your child best and are best equipped to judge whether certain reactions are standard behaviors for your teen or whether they might be hinting at a larger problem. Even so, there are a few common signs and events that often point to a need for therapy, such as experiencing divorce or loss, grief, consistent low moods, teens distancing themselves and becoming isolated, losing interest in hobbies, excessive anger or irritability, substance use issues, and suicidal ideation, among others.
Teen counseling providers at Thriveworks in Franklin, MA offer both in person and online therapy by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The length of teen counseling depends on your teen’s needs as well as the goals that you and their therapist might have for them. Generally, teen counseling sessions will last for several months.
It makes sense some teenagers are unhappy, stressed, and unhealthy! They have a lot going on! Adolescents also process the world differently. They have different priorities, emotional responses, and ways of problem solving than adults do. So how can you as a parent provide a happy, fulfilling life for your kids when you don’t even understand what’s going on? Sometimes it can seem like not enough love in the world will do it.
But you aren’t alone. Thriveworks Franklin has years of experience working with teenagers. No one can love your child in the way you do. And it is neither yours nor theirs fault that they’re struggling in some capacity. Counseling can shed a little light onto your adolescent’s struggles and help guide you both towards a happier, healthier life. You can get them the help they need by calling an adolescent counselor or therapist at Thriveworks Franklin at 617-360-7210.
Every session at Franklin Thriveworks will be different. This is because the two things every session will be is judgment-free and client-first. Your goals and vision are the most important part of a counseling session, and what exactly we talk about or do will be based off of that!
There is also no reason too big or too small that counseling can’t help with. Although we understand it can be a confusing and even scary decision-making process. To make it easier, here are some issues we see teenagers for:
Every session will be unique! Our Thriveworks Franklin Adolescent counselors have many tools and years of experience to bring to the table, but much of it depends on your unique situation and personality.
For some teenagers, traditional talk therapy is all they need. Encouragement and the space to verbally work through problems is incredibly powerful. For others, we might employ techniques such as:
There are some dark times in the teenage years. But no matter how the situation may look, there is always hope. Franklin Thriveworks is here and excited to walk alongside your teen as they work towards the happy, fulfilling life they deserve!
