Victoria "Vicky" Baxter is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) who has 7 years of experience providing services to all ages--children, adolescent, and adults--along with couples and family treatment. Vicky’s clinical background includes the Charlie Norwood VA where she worked with veterans of all ages with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety. She then worked for a Community Service Board in Georgia, serving low SES populations and treating severe and persistent mental health issues. Vicky then moved to North Carolina where she has had the opportunity to work with geriatric populations on developmental stage issues, end of life issues, as well as dementia.
Vicky completed her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology at Georgia Southern University and her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Augusta University. She has been trained in cognitive processing therapy (CPT), relaxation/mindfulness training, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and substance abuse treatment. Vicky’s theoretical orientation includes reality and choice therapy.
Vicky believes that there are many things in the world we cannot control, however there are many elements we can. We do not choose the conditions that we are born into or born with, however we do have a choice in how we respond to them. Vicky’s priority is to help you understand what you are experiencing and what is causing distress in order to make the changes you are looking for and capable of. Vicky attempts to empower her clients to feel control over their lives and choices to reach their goals. Whatever changes you want to make, Vicky is here to walk that journey with you.

Therapy for men maintains a focus on the emotional and mental impacts of being a man in society, dealing with issues like the pressures of toxic masculinity and the traditional familial roles of men, among others. Thriveworks Charlotte therapists who specialize in treating men work to create a safe space for them to emote and care for their mental well-being without fear of judgment.
Therapy for men has many aspects of traditional psychotherapy, but it also maintains a clear person-centered and humanistic approach. Thriveworks Charlotte therapists will work with men to reach their therapy goals through self-reflection and introspection—uncovering specific emotional, behavioral, and mental patterns that are having a negative effect or are inhibiting personal growth and slowly working to change them over time.
Therapy for men at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Therapy for men can last for a few months or occur over the course of years, often continuing until the client feels that their goals are met and their desired growth has been achieved. However, it will likely last at least five months, as that is the average amount of time it takes for the therapeutic process to take effect and bring about lasting change.
This is the Thriveworks philosophy in a nutshell: everyone—and that includes men—can benefit from partnering up with a skilled mental health professional. In doing so, we can better understand, address, and manage our emotions; we can take better care of our mental health; and we can shatter the limits that we’ve created for ourselves. Ultimately, we can learn to live our very best lives.
Does this sound like something you’re interested in? The counselors and therapists at Thriveworks South Charlotte want to give you the care you deserve, and they’ll help you work through whatever issues you may be dealing with. Reach out today to get started.

Whatever challenge you are facing, a counselor or therapist at Thriveworks South Charlotte can help you find a solution. Here are a few things you could gain from working with one of our providers:
Often, men grow up thinking that to show emotions is to show weakness. However, this is just not the case. Instead, opening up about our emotions shows great strength—additionally, holding in those feelings will only make the emotional turmoil worse. Here at Thriveworks, we hope to make a difference in the lives of men struggling to open up about their feelings or the issues they deal with every day. These issues might include…
This is not a comprehensive list, but a short glimpse of what our counselors and therapists can help you address. Whatever the case is, our counselors will utilize their knowledge, skills, and experience to help you break through those obstacles.
