What is your go-to approach for online therapy?

My go-to approach for helping people in online therapy is CBT. I find the best benefit in teaching skills and techniques because the client can do these on their own at any time.

What tools do you teach in online therapy?

I teach grounding skills, visualization skills, communication skills, anger management skills, and breathing skills in therapy.

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in online therapy?

I know a client is making meaningful progress when their assessment scores (phq9, etc) reflect improvement.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement online therapy?

I encourage clients to complete the homework I assign and read suggested articles to supplement their time in online therapy.

What should someone do to prepare for starting online therapy?

To prepare for your first online therapy session, you can familiarize yourself with Zoom and how it works, as well as the therapy process.

Starting Online therapy

What is online therapy?

With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.

How does online therapy work?

Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.

What is the best option for online therapy?

There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.

Is online therapy just as effective?

Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.

How long does online therapy last?

Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.

How much does online therapy cost?

At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.

Need more help deciding?

Are you harboring a problem that you haven’t been able to resolve alone? This is the case for many. They encounter a problem that affects their mental health, but they’re too afraid or ashamed to ask for help.

Sadly, too often, the stigma around mental health prevents people who need help from seeking it. But that simply doesn’t make any sense. Whether an illness affects your heart, your arm, or your brain, it’s still an illness, and there shouldn’t be any distinction. We would never tell someone with a broken leg that they should stop wallowing and get it together.”

What Is Online Therapy?

Online therapy counseling is probably exactly what you’re picturing. Instead of coming into our office to work with your counselor, you’ll work with your counselor online! At Thriveworks Alexandria, you’ll get to choose whether you meet with your therapist over the phone or via videoconference. Both options have proven effective, it all comes down to your needs and your preferences. For example, if you enjoy the face-to-face aspect of in-person counseling, you might choose video counseling over phone counseling.

You might be wondering about the history of online therapy. How long has it been around? Is this a revolutionary, new concept? Despite widespread belief, online counseling dates back as far as the 1950s when the first crisis hotline emerged. Later, in the 1970s, the first online self-help group emerged! And today, people enjoy a wide variety of online mental health services, including hotlines, online self-help groups, and one-on-one time via phone counseling or video chat with a licensed counselor.

Can Online Therapy Help Me?

If you’re suffering from a mental health problem, you probably feel a little worried, scared, or even hopeless. The good news is that you’ve come to the right place, as Thriveworks Alexandria, VA has qualified mental health professionals on staff who are ready to help you.

In addition to offering the traditional in-person therapy, we now offer online counseling, too. As we discussed above, online therapy gives you the chance to work with your therapist over the phone or on video chat. This proves helpful to many people, especially those who…

  • Are struggling to find a therapist nearby with the right expertise
  • Need more flexible scheduling options

Bank closure is fundamentally when a financial institution goes bankrupt; however, parents can't go into bank closure for their children, family, and friends. Nevertheless, parents do close their bank (hearth) to minimize disrespect, abuse, and abundant misuse of LOVE. So I closed my life to abuse, disrespect, and misuse of ❤️
