My career path began in the retail/wholesale industry, which created a path for me in therapy. I’ve worked in roles in ministry, education, and leadership, and have immersed myself in critical race theory, history, and the Black experience. I’ve worked with a wide range of clients of different races, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Much of my confidence in working with people from all walks of life was inspired by my upbringing. I grew up a military brat, which made me more social and adaptable. I understand trauma does not escape the human experience, but effort and will are the ingredients for healing and transformation.
My approach is rooted in person-centered therapy and CBT, though I have grown into a more eclectic practice that allows for broader interventions and coping strategies. More recently, I have integrated internal family systems (IFS), somatic experiencing, and EMDR techniques to best meet each client where they are.

In grief and loss counseling, my approach is client-centered, allowing individuals to navigate through the stages of grief at their own pace. Utilizing psychoeducation, I review the stages of grief with clients, helping them understand that their feelings are normal, which I find greatly benefits their healing process.
My strategies include psychoeducational and client-centered approaches to tailor the experience to each individual, validating their feelings at any stage of grief. I emphasize the importance of self-acceptance and honoring their feelings, especially as clients often struggle with feeling “stuck” or guilty for not “getting over” their loss quickly.
Meaningful progress in grief and loss counseling is observed when clients report feeling less stuck and experience less intense waves of grief. Progress is marked by a client's ability to recognize, honor their feelings, and move forward in life in a healthy manner, understanding that grieving does not adhere to a strict timeline.
To enhance their counseling experience, clients should consider journaling, engaging in activities that bring them joy, and honoring their loved ones in personal ways if it feels right for them. These supplemental activities support the therapeutic process and personal healing.
