About Patricia

Patricia Robison is a Licensed Psychologist (LP) in the state of Maryland with more than 15 years of experience working with young adults and adults seeking assistance with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, identity issues, transition issues, stress, grief, and loss.

She earned her MA and Ph.D. degrees in psychology from the Fielding Graduate University. She also has a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Thomas Jefferson University and certifications from the Barbara Brennan School of Healing and the Center for Mind-Body Medicine. Patricia uses an integral approach with key insights and interventions from pharmacological, psychodynamic, cognitive, humanistic, existential, multicultural, and transpersonal approaches to psychotherapy. This inclusive stance confronts the breadth of psychological complexity and meets the needs of each unique person without blending the approaches into one.

Patricia seeks to form a warm, caring, and collaborative therapeutic relationship with you to build on your strengths and understand you–mind, body, heart, and spirit–so that she is able to help you meet your goals and live the meaningful life you seek and desire.

Get to know Patricia

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I was a working in a corporation as a quality consultant to help work teams and management improve the efficiency of work processes and product quality and discovered that I enjoyed the individual coaching of managers. I thought I would be even more effective if I studied psychology. My boss supported my idea and the corporation funded my education to obtain my PhD in psychology.

What types of clients do you work with best?

Clients who want to work collaboratively with me to make the necessary changes to meet their life goals.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

Clients who truly want to understand or change some aspect of themselves or their lives.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I wanted to return to counseling after retiring from work at a college counseling center, was unable to find a local private practice to join and found that engaging in telehealth therapy through Thriveworks was the perfect fit for me.

What inspires you?

People who keep trying despite the adversity life throws at them.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I want to begin to form an authentic relationship with the client, get a sense of the goals the client wishes to achieve in therapy and help the client decide whether or not I am someone they feel comfortable talking with about their concerns.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love to read, spend time with my adult children, and play with our 5 cats and 2 dogs.
