About
My own life experiences as well as my experience working in hospitals has helped me to have tremendous variety with many different age groups and populations, and I will be your personal coach to help you obtain your goals.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have spent several years in acute and rehab hospital settings, as well as a therapy practice. I have experience with all age groups, individuals, couples, and families. I have learned each of us has our own unique story and sometimes there are challenges we do not expect, or we realize we want to take the next chapter in a different direction. I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, clarity and confidence.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths based. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychoeducation are some of the therapy approaches we may use, depending upon individual needs.
Whether you are coping with anxiety, adjusting to a life change such as divorce or a health condition, or working through trauma or grief, I am here to help you learn new coping skills and strengthen your resilience. Healing begins in a safe and supportive environment, where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. Let's get started!

My personal experience with trauma and loss was the catalyst for a major career change and was completely life altering. From there, I was drawn to a profession in healing. It has given me an authentic understanding of how we are impacted by painful life experiences and the ability to connect with my clients on a meaningful level. My own experiences have made me resilient, something that I wish for is to support my clients in empowerment, and to find their own resilience along the healing journey.
I am glad you are here. I'm Marissa, an LCSW with over a decade of clinical experience in mental health. I graduated from NYU's Silver School of Social Work in 2016 with honors. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in law serving underserved populations, but found it difficult to make the impact I wanted, so I pivoted to this more balanced career. I bring knowledge of modalities like psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, DBT, and CBT, along with a broad lens on systems from my law background. I am warm, relational, and love seeing my clients make progress. You will have my undivided attention and a safe space in every session.
My areas of focus include addiction—I've worked in detox, inpatient, and outpatient programs, and served as Clinical Director for two outpatient programs. Addiction and mental health often go hand-in-hand, so I treat both concurrently. I use EMDR for trauma, CBT and DBT for emotion regulation, and a psychoanalytic/psychodynamic approach in sessions.
Please do not hesitate to take this step with me. You will feel safe, heard, seen, assured, and positive in the initial session and following. I invite you to reach out and start your journey with me.
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

OCD counseling is a specialized therapeutic approach aimed at supporting individuals coping with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The goal of this counseling is to help clients manage and alleviate the distressing symptoms of OCD by systematically addressing their obsessive thought patterns and compulsive behaviors.
In OCD counseling, Thriveworks Nashville therapists use cognitive behavioral techniques, including exposure and response prevention, to assist you in addressing and managing your obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. An OCD therapist will collaborate with you to identify and modify irrational thought patterns while gradually and gently exposing you to anxiety-triggering situations, helping to disrupt the cycle of obsessive-compulsive rituals and promote healthier coping strategies.
Thriveworks OCD counseling in Nashville, TN is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The number of sessions for OCD counseling is variable, contingent upon the individual’s unique needs, the severity of their condition, and their progress during treatment. Typically, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), commonly used for OCD, comprises around 12 to 16 weekly sessions, but the exact session count can be customized based on the individual’s response to treatment and therapeutic objectives. Some opt for a more extended duration to comprehensively manage symptoms and address complex issues.
