About Danielle

Welcome to your new beginning! My name is Danielle Akins and I am a LPC and MHSP. I work with children of all ages, young adults, and seniors. I specialize in autism, play therapy, trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, and abuse (sexual and physical). I also specialize in sexual addiction and family counseling

I believe in the Holistic approach where each individual has their own specific needs and qualities. I use various approaches depending on each individual's circumstances and issues. I incorporate CBT, DBT, ACT, trauma-focused, solution-focused, and play therapy into my sessions.

I look forward to working with you as a a member of the team where we together will work towards a collective pathway for mental healing. I encourage you to make this first step by scheduling an appointment so we can start this new journey together.

Get to know Danielle

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I have always wanted to dig and find the reason behind the behavior of people.

What types of clients do you work best with?

Children, young adults, teens, seniors.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

That taking the first step for admitting one needs help is the start of a new beginning.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

Building rapport and establishing trust with the client.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

Clients want to know that they matter and that not everyone can be treated the same or as a text book case.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

Each individual deserves their own unique situation and how different therapies depending on their situation deserve therapies designated for those circumstances.
