About
As an African American, cisgender Female, I am passionate and relational when working with communities of color, and I understand the importance of being seen and understood, while also recognizing the need to express personal experiences without judgment.
I am an associate clinical social worker (ACSW) with 3 years of experience providing client-centered, trauma-informed care. I support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and identity- or relationship-related concerns. My work is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based practice, and I strive to create a nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, understood, and supported as they work toward emotional stability and personal growth.
I have my master’s degree in social welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. My approach integrates cognitive behavioral strategies, motivational interviewing, talk therapy, and trauma-informed care. When appropriate, I incorporate creative, play-based, and expressive techniques to support emotional processing in a developmentally responsive way.
Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and you do not have to navigate life’s challenges alone. I offer a collaborative and supportive environment where your experiences are honored, and your goals guide our work. Together, we will build insight, resilience, and practical coping skills to help you move forward with clarity and confidence

Hi, I'm Yo-at (YOE-aht) Silverman and I've been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) for nearly 20 years. I've been doing therapy since I finished my MA at New College of California in 2007, and I've been licensed since 2009.
Have you been experiencing a lot of worry, stress and anxiety lately? Has something significant changed in your life and you're just trying to make heads or tails of it all? Are you having issues staying on task or maintaining focus at work or at school? Are you trying to figure out how to get along with family, friends or coworkers? Have you and your partner been having issues communicating and trusting each other? Are you motivated to create change for your own growth and benefit? I can help.
My style is supportive, solution-focused, and coping skills centered. I'll listen without judgement or criticism and I'll give you concrete ideas and suggestions that are designed to help you in improving your quality of life, your relationships and your self-care (and no, I'm not talking about manicures or haircuts).
And if you need a vent session, I'm here for that, too.
I look forward to meeting you.

Couples therapy works by helping couples identify and better navigate their unique challenges. Following an initial assessment of the couple in terms of strengths and needs, the therapist would then discuss their therapeutic goals and any possible approaches or ways of working together as therapist and couple.Couples attend sessions together, whether they meet in person or by video. In addition to regular couples therapy sessions, each partner may also be asked to attend a few individual sessions to supplement their progress. This will allow their counselor to get to know each individual better, assess each of their personal needs, and develop the very best treatment plan moving forward.
Couples therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend couples therapy for 12 weeks. However, couples therapy may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.
