I was inspired by my own challenges navigating high functioning depression. I was still performing, still excelling in my career, but lost my sense of joy and identity. Nothing seemed to interest me. I know how difficult it is to carry painful experiences, and to navigate my own healing. Your story matters, but it doesn’t define you. We are layered, diverse, complex individuals. You deserve the opportunity to process, learn, and gradually heal your mind and body. Healing is not linear, and is oftentimes buried in the pain.
Therapy is a collaborative space where we can begin to unpack big feelings, navigate difficult emotions, and work through life's challenging experiences. If you're feeling stuck, numb, overwhelmed, or weighed down by pain, you're not alone. I am a licensed clinical social worker with a master's degree from the University of Michigan and over 12 years of experience. I take a holistic approach to supporting individuals through life transitions, grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, and emotional distress. I believe deeply that your voice matters—and that you matter.
In our first session, my focus is on getting to know you and creating space for you to share your story. I'm intentional about fostering warmth, support, accountability, and partnership. My approach is integrative and evidence-based, incorporating CBT, DBT, solution-focused techniques, and somatic interventions.
Our work together will be collaborative and tailored to your evolving needs—because growth is not linear, and it's okay for plans to change as you do. Your story matters. I'm here to listen, support, and gently challenge you along the way.

Lee Scott is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 11 years of field experience helping clients cope with feelings of stress, anxiety, grief and loss, low motivation, poor self-esteem, low confidence, depression, and emotional fatigue. He has worked with the homeless population, individuals struggling with mental health conditions, and elderly victims of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Lee believes in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. He establishes a healthy and constructive therapist-client relationship by understanding how people’s experiences and beliefs shape how they think about themselves and the world.

I offer counseling and talk therapy services; however, I do not currently offer psychological testing. I am Sam Bearer, a licensed professional counselor with 9 years of experience working with individuals and couples from diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. While marriage and couple’s counseling is typically recommended for couples who are experiencing persistent or severe relationship issues, any relationship can benefit from attending these sessions.
Marriage and couples counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend marriage and couples counseling for 12 weeks. However, couples & marriage counseling may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.
At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state.
