Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I've gone through my own life struggles and personal mental health issues, and I experienced firsthand the benefits of personal therapy. I believe everyone deserves support for their mental health, and I want to help others experience healing and growth in their lives.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are open to new perspectives, willing to trust the process of therapy, and wanting to try new approaches in pursuing positive change.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I love working with a broad range of clients. I want my clients to feel comfortable being themselves, and I want to meet them where they are and help them grow.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I want clients to know that the goal of therapy is to support their individual goals. The work we do together can feel vulnerable and difficult at times, but as your counselor, I am here to support you through the process and help you achieve your goals.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice therapy at Thriveworks because of their flexibility, client-centered approach, and values. Thriveworks seeks to make mental health more accessible for all clients in an environment that is compassionate and free from stigma.
What inspires you?
I am inspired every day by the resilience of my clients. I am honored to have the privilege to work with them.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In our first session, I hope to get to know the client and their goals for therapy and to start establishing a trusting partnership. I will ask questions and listen more than talk. Clients can expect to discuss their reasons for starting therapy and their goals for the process.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to establish a sense of ease, safety, and hope for our work together. I want to connect with the client and learn what their needs are.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I ask a lot of questions with the goal of getting to know the client. I believe respect and empathy are vital to the therapeutic process. I have an optimistic outlook which I bring to sessions.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Outside of work, you can often find me at the park with my kids or getting a group of friends together for a game. I enjoy theater, especially Shakespearean plays and old musicals, and I stay active with weightlifting and strongman exercises.
