I'm Andrea Hickle, a licensed clinical social worker. I earned my Bachelor's in Social Work from Ball State University and my Master's from Indiana University. I work with clients across a wide range of life stages, primarily adolescents ages 15 and older through adults in their 60s. I enjoy meeting clients where they are and working collaboratively to develop a solution-focused approach that helps them feel heard, understood, and empowered. I specialize in life transitions, anxiety and depressive disorders, and issues related to foster care and adoption.
My approach is person-centered and collaborative, using cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and solution-focused therapy tailored to your needs. I help you identify your strengths, explore what's getting in your way, and develop tools for change. You're in the driver's seat, and I'm here to support you.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but you don't need everything figured out. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I have devoted my career to working with individuals who struggle with mental health and substance use disorders and I understand the need to create a warm, nonjudgmental space to discuss issues and also the importance of developing a personalized treatment plan.
I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 13 years of experience treating adults with mental health and substance use disorders in inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings. I earned my ASN from Indiana University and completed my graduate studies there. I understand the importance of providing a safe and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard and understood. I believe in empowering you to take an active role in your treatment and tailoring care to each unique personality. I am committed to building rapport based on trust, open communication, empathy, and clinical expertise.
As a registered nurse and nurse practitioner, I've learned listening and compassion are as important as treatment. My focus is on mood disorders, grief, insomnia, trauma, substance use, and chronic mental illness, using assessments and medication management. I am both a provider and an advocate committed to making sure you are seen, respected, and empowered.
I'll provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where we can form a therapeutic alliance and collaborate on a plan unique to your needs. My dedication is rooted in a personal journey: family and friends who have struggled with mental health and substance use. I believe we can create achievable, sustainable goals built on empathy, compassion, and listening.
