Get to know Tina
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a psych provider after my family suffered a terrible accident and loss of my teen brother. I witnessed first hand how grief and trauma can affect a family. I wanted to help those in similar situations find their hope and resilience.
What types of clients do you work with best?
"I work best with patients who are open to exploring the root causes of their behavioral symptoms. Together, we focus on understanding the 'why' behind their actions and develop a thoughtful plan to support meaningful, lasting change."
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
"I enjoy working with a diverse range of patients, as exposure to various diagnoses deepens my understanding of each condition. I have experience with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, and borderline personality disorder, and I find each uniquely interesting and rewarding to work with."
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
"I wish all of my clients knew that I learn from them just as much as they learn from me. At our core, we are not so different—and there is no shame in experiencing mental health challenges or in seeking help. It’s a sign of strength, not weakness."
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
"My goal is to build meaningful connections with a diverse group of patients in an outpatient setting, providing compassionate care and support to those navigating mental health challenges."
What inspires you?
"I am inspired by both personal and professional relationships where I witness resilience—individuals enduring some of the most unimaginable challenges and still finding the strength to function and thrive despite their circumstances."
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
"Clients can expect a compassionate, down-to-earth provider with strong communication skills—someone who takes the time to listen, gather the information clients are willing to share, build trust, and collaboratively establish goals and a plan to guide progress between visits."
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
"This provider prioritizes building trust from the very first visit, recognizing that a strong therapeutic relationship is essential before clients can feel comfortable exploring personal issues and working toward meaningful goals."
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
"Patients should know that this provider brings personal life experience—both individually and within her family—that fosters a deep sense of empathy and understanding. This perspective helps create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients can feel comfortable sharing personal details without fear."
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to spend time with my family and travel.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
"I am a compassionate caregiver, both professionally and in my personal life, bringing empathy and dedication to every relationship I build."
