About Judy
I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 13 years of experience treating adults with mental health and substance use disorders in inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings. I earned my ASN from Indiana University and completed my graduate studies there. I understand the importance of providing a safe and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard and understood. I believe in empowering you to take an active role in your treatment and tailoring care to each unique personality. I am committed to building rapport based on trust, open communication, empathy, and clinical expertise.
As a registered nurse and nurse practitioner, I've learned listening and compassion are as important as treatment. My focus is on mood disorders, grief, insomnia, trauma, substance use, and chronic mental illness, using assessments and medication management. I am both a provider and an advocate committed to making sure you are seen, respected, and empowered.
I'll provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where we can form a therapeutic alliance and collaborate on a plan unique to your needs. My dedication is rooted in a personal journey: family and friends who have struggled with mental health and substance use. I believe we can create achievable, sustainable goals built on empathy, compassion, and listening.

"As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I have devoted my career to working with individuals who struggle with mental health and substance use disorders and I understand the need to create a warm, nonjudgmental space to discuss issues and also the importance of developing a personalized treatment plan. Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
My decision to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner was based on my experience of being a registered nurse and having the opportunity to work oneon-one with patients experiencing struggles in their lives. I believe investing in mental health wellness is just as important as physical wellness. Each person is unique and it is a privilege to assist them in their journey of finding clarity and hope. It is a profession which involves growth and learning with the goal of making a meaningful impact.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who struggle with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I would like clients to be aware that there is no quick fix and that treatment involves the process of mutual collaboration involving therapy and possibly medications. I would inform them that it is important to celebrate small steps and that when they trust the process it will lead to resilience, selfawareness, and selfdiscovery.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
I will provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where we can begin to form a therapeutic alliance. I would let them know that we will collaborate in creating a treatment plan that is unique to their situation and their needs.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My dedication to my career is based on a journey that includes family and friends who have struggled with both mental health issues and substance use issues. My practice is based on professional ethics, active listening, core values, empathy, compassion, and the knowledge that together we can create achievable and sustainable goals.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I would utilize a holistic and patient-centered approach in creating a personalized treatment plan that combines clinical considerations based on patient history and feedback along with treating the individual with respect, empathy, and compassion.
