In navigating the challenges of everyday life, I recognize the importance of prioritizing self care and exploring the areas of our lives that need healing.
Hello! My name is Lauren, and I hold a bachelor's and master's degrees in social work. I am clinically licensed and have worked in the field since 2009. I have worked with adults and adolescents in telehealth, inpatient, and field-based settings. Many of the individuals I have worked with have experienced challenges around relationship dynamics, sudden loss, marital and financial stressors, infidelity, negative peer relationships, body image, and balancing career and household demands. The individuals I have worked with are no different than most of us, who on some level are seeking balance, peace, and reassurance.
In our work together, I seek to give space to investigate root causes to some of your most pressing issues. Through exploration, utilizing mindfulness, person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and solution-focused approaches, we will work toward more clarity and self-acceptance. You can expect a receptive and compassionate, judgment-free approach.
I know that showing vulnerability and transparency can be tough, but I would like to share that space with you. I can best support individuals who are motivated toward change and are insightful. I specialize in anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, and life transitions. If this sounds like you, reach out!

To paraphrase an old but true saying, “the only thing constant in life is change.” One thing that was left out is that change can often times be scary and hard. Just when we think things are going good, life has a way of throwing us a curve ball just to make things “interesting.” Whether you are experiencing difficulty with coping with changes related to your emotions, your relationships, your job, your health, or just life in general, counseling can help. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with approximately 12 years of experience with working with children, adults, families, and couples. I am proud to have an all-inclusive practice that serves clients and families of varying ethnicities, sexual orientations, socio-economic status, and other cultural backgrounds. I take pride in providing a comfortable and welcoming (yet always professional) environment where clients are encouraged to be open and honest. My primary goal is to help my clients to uncover their innate ability to adapt and thrive despite any challenges they may face. Common issues that I help with include depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger management, relationship stressors, behavior issues, trauma and abuse, stress management, relational codependency, suicidal thoughts, and grief. I utilize a holistic/systems approach to counseling in order to understand the impact that a client’s mental, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being may have on the issues that they are facing. While I believe quality training is important, I also believe that it is just as important to find a counselor that is a good “fit.” I would the love the opportunity to see if I am a good fit to help assist you on your journey. With online counseling (within the state of Georgia), and 24/7 scheduling, you are just one mouse click/phone call of way, so…let’s HEAL together!
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

Family therapy helps families resolve conflicts and strengthen their relationships. It is led by qualified mental health professionals like psychologists, licensed professional counselors (LPCs), and licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs) who have extensive training in family dynamics and group communication.
Thriveworks family therapists in Savannah, GA usually begin by asking what everyone’s goals are for family counseling. Family members may need help with very specific issues or with general relationship functioning. But there are three main purposes in family counseling: to educate, to counsel, and to strengthen. Thriveworks also offers online family therapy and in-person services, so you may all meet in an office together or join a video call from your home depending on everyone’s location and availability.
The most effective form of Family therapy will often depend on the family itself, as there are many types of family therapy for therapists to use as they see fit in order to best meet the needs of their clients. However, one of the most commonly used types of family therapy is structural family therapy (SFT). SFT focuses specifically on family dynamics and interactions, looking at how they shape the relationships and structure present in the family. It can be effectively used to treat a variety of concerns.
This answer often looks different to each family that starts family therapy. However, some signs that your family might need to consider family counseling include frequent fights or misunderstandings, constant tension, experiencing loss, behavioral issues, marital issues, divorce, and blended family issues, among others.
In family therapy, therapists will often start by asking questions and assessing individual and family dynamics. From there, they may employ therapeutic techniques such as structured family therapy, CBT, strategic family therapy, and more depending on the present concerns and conflicts. From there, a therapist will work to open lines of communication between family members and facilitate emotional healing and growth.
Family therapy can be incredibly successful, with some studies reporting a success rate of almost 90% for improving participants’ emotional and mental health, and around 66% for improving their physical health.
Thriveworks therapists in Savannah, GA offer both online family therapy and in-person family therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Family therapy is usually short term and solution-focused, with most families accomplishing their goals in 12 sessions or fewer. However, it can also last for longer if the probles at hand are more complex — and that’s okay, too.
Researchers believe a large part of who we are is the average of the 5 closest people in our lives. Friends, roommates, and coworkers all might be in the top 5. Your family however, or some of them, will almost always be a few of the most influential people in your life.
Whether for our benefit or hinderance, our families teach us a lot. We may learn how to communicate, work through problems, or display love. But what if your family doesn’t teach the messages you want it to?
Familial stress is something all families deal with at some time or another. We doubt there’s a family out there who hasn’t at one point hurt each other, argued late into the night, or helped the development of bad habits. Families are a part of life, which means they can be chaotic! But they are also beautiful and can be a place of love and growth.
Whatever your family structure- biological, stepfamily, adopted, foster, and anything else- Thriveworks Savannah is here to help make the time you spend with your family fruitful and loving. No one’s family is ever perfect, and there will always be chaotic bumps in the road, but together we can mend any fractures and make your family a healthy, loving unit.
Sometimes, life throws us curveballs. These are completely out of your control yet can wreak havoc on your home life.
Thriveworks Savannah Family counselors understand the uncertainty, anxiety, and of course, love, that family life can bring. We have years of experience and training in tools that we can practice together. A Family Counseling session will be about improving communication, problem solving, and implementing plans to prevent future conflict.
But what exactly goes into a Family Counseling session?
That depends on the family and the situation! Thriveworks Savannah believes in individualizing every session. Counseling was never meant to be a cut-and-paste solution. It’s meant to meet you where you’re at walk beside your family as we strive towards a healthier, happier future.
Some families decide that it’s best to meet individually before a big, group session with their family counseling. Others are ready to jump right into a group session. This will also depend on the Thriveworks Savannah counselor. Give us a call today if you have more questions about what our family counselors offer.
The goal of family counseling will always be to rebuild and strengthen families. There is nothing wrong with seeing a counselor. It is a show of your strength, courage, and commitment towards each other. But we don’t want to keep you at counseling forever! Thriveworks Savannah believes everyone can thrive on their own, after given the proper encouragement and tools to direct their path.
Even though every session will be unique, common threads have surfaced throughout our family counseling sessions. For example, we might draw a focus on:
