Get to know Patrice

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a counselor because I am passionate about helping people and I find joy in witnessing the healing power of transformation. As the oldest child, I was the "go-to person" in my family and often had to be the mediator helping to resolve conflict. I developed the skill of effective listening and possess the ability to help people identify and articulate their inner experiences. I have had to navigate life transitions, trauma, grief/loss in my own life and I decided to make a career out of helping others do the same.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with people who are feeling anxious, stuck, uncertain, or in pain due to adjustment difficulties, relationship issues, family conflict, substance use, and unresolved trauma or grief.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am most excited to work with couples.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I want all clients to know that they have the power within themselves to navigate and overcome life's challenges. Sometimes we just need help to access the power from within.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by curiosity.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

In our first session, you can expect to get to know me as a therapist and how I work with clients so we can determine if my style of therapy is going to help you meet your needs.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

In the first session, I hope to accomplish managing expectations for therapy, building a therapeutic rapport with the client, and identifying the goals for therapy.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies, playing board games, traveling, trying new things, and reading books.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I am defined by my values. I value family, spirituality, friendship, freedom, creativity, laughter, and honesty.
