Christian counseling in Richmond is a form of faith-based counseling that utilizes psychological and spiritual techniques to guide and support. Often, Christian counselors often incorporate prayer and scripture-reading into treatment to help practicing Christians work through their challenges.
Christian counseling works by focusing on themes of hope and healing through one’s faith. At Thriveworks, your Christian counselor will discuss Christian values and relate them to your unique struggles. You can expect to discuss the following with them:
Christian counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Christian counseling can last for a few weeks, months, or longer. It depends on what challenges the client might be working through, the severity of those challenges, as well as other needs or preferences.
We all encounter challenges that can cause us to stumble in our faith. We are only human, anyhow—we’re faced with innumerable challenges in every area of life, including our relationships, our careers, our personal lives. Sometimes, these have a handful of negative effects on our life, and sometimes, they completely uproot everything we know and love. Fortunately, Christian counseling can help.
If you see benefit in working with a Christian counselor, consider coming to see us at Thriveworks Richmond Counseling. Thriveworks Richmond has Christian counselors and therapists on staff, for those who would prefer or enjoy the help and support of someone who shares in their Christian faith. They will pair their Christian faith with their background in mental health counseling, to design a treatment plan that will best benefit you. If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, please reach out to Thriveworks Richmond Counseling by calling (804) 554-0356.
Christian counseling pairs important lessons in the Christian faith with research-backed practices in psychology to help people reach a happier, more successful life. It can help people make important changes in their life, grow through stressful circumstances, manage what they can’t change, and more. The main goal is to help the individual make improvements in his or her life that will enable them to live better. Now, there are other goals too, but these change from client to client, as they are uniquely based on his or her specific challenges, needs, goals, etc.
When there are mentally strenuous, stressful, or otherwise challenging situations, we can find the assistance, guidance, and support that we yearn for in God Himself. Studies show that turning to one’s faith during particularly difficult times truly helps them heal and offers strength. For example, when we get into a heartbreaking fight with our spouse; or, when we struggle to find any happiness or fulfillment in our day to day—whatever it is, a Christian counselor can guide you in the right direction.
As we mentioned previously, the overarching mission that your Christian counselor has is to help you overcome the challenges before you and to help you make changes that will lead to better living. There will be additional goals, of which you and your counselor will identify, as you talk to them about what you’re going through and what’s brought you to counseling. In the meantime, you can read about some common goals in Christian counseling here:
Remember, these are just a few common goals that our counselors have helped their clients work toward and accomplish. There are many other goals that you might set, work toward, and achieve during your time in Christian counseling!
Are you feeling stressed? Are you overwhelmed, personally or professionally? If you’re struggling, please don’t struggle alone. The Christian counselors at Thriveworks Richmond have availability, and they would love nothing more than to help you. To schedule a Christian counseling appointment with one of our providers, please reach out to our office. Call (804) 554-0356.
