Starting Online therapy

What is online therapy?

With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.

How does online therapy work?

Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.

What is the best option for online therapy?

There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your speicifc needs and with wom you can form a professional connection with.

Is online therapy just as effective?

Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.

How long does online therapy last?

Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.

How much does online therapy cost?

Our Thriveworks therapists at Thriveworks in Loveland, CO accept most major forms of insurance, which means that many of our clients only pay $0-$50 co-pay per session. However, there are also self-pay options that sit around $200 per session, depending on the service and location, for those who are out-of-network.

Need more help deciding?

Taking care of your mental health isn’t always easy. Hectic schedules, demanding jobs, and busy families may make it difficult for you to carve out the time to take a shower, let alone schedule a therapy session with a licensed counselor or therapist. When life gets chaotic, it’s easy to push your mental health aside or put it on the back burner.

But good mental health is important — it can help you balance the many moving parts of your life and maintain healthy relationships. It influences the way you feel, think, and act.

Fortunately, there is a way to improve your mental health without shirking your responsibilities or losing precious time with family. Online counseling at Thriveworks provides accessible, convenient access to mental health services right from the comfort of home or wherever you may be.

If you’ve been putting off mental health care, or feel like you may be ready to pursue counseling for the first time, online therapy with a licensed mental health professional at Thriveworks in Loveland, CO is a great place to start. Our online therapists can help you ease into counseling to address the specific mental health issues you are having and show you how to achieve better mental health long term.

What Types of Therapy Do You Offer Online?

Online counseling works very similarly to face-to-face therapy, but instead of meeting with a licensed therapist in person, you’ll connect to your provider remotely. Most clients find that online therapy is just as beneficial as traditional therapy, but with the added convenience of being able to stay at home.

At Thriveworks in Loveland, CO, we offer a wide variety of therapy options that are accessible by both phone calls and video chats. You can choose whichever form of communication makes you feel most comfortable, and connect with your counselor from wherever is most convenient for you that day. Whether you’re winding down a busy day at home or taking some time for yourself on your lunch break, your therapist or counselor can be right there with you.

Some types of therapy that are offered online include the following:

  • Depression or anxiety therapy
  • Marriage and family counseling
  • Child therapy
  • Couples therapy
  • Trauma and PTSD therapy
  • LGBTQ+ counseling
  • Anger and stress management
  • Psychiatric therapy
  • Grief and loss counseling
  • Life or career coaching
  • Eating disorder counseling
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

What Are the Benefits of Online Therapy?

Online therapy works by connecting you with your therapist or counselor by virtual means so you can get the help you need even if you can’t make it to the office. Tight schedules, transportation issues, illness, disability, and certain mental health problems can make in-person therapy difficult or impossible. At Thriveworks in Loveland, CO, we help you push past those barriers by connecting you with an online provider from the comfort of your home or wherever you happen to be.

Different methods of communication may work better or be more suited at different times for different people. Some individuals prefer to meet with their therapists via video chat because it most closely mimics face-to-face therapy. Many people rely on facial expressions, hand gestures, or body language to communicate effectively, and video chat sessions make these forms of communication possible from miles away.

On the other hand, phone communication can be a better option if you find yourself without access to video conferencing capabilities, or somewhere where video chat isn’t possible. Phone therapy sessions may also be helpful for people who are nervous, anxious, or hesitant about beginning therapy. Seeking help for mental health issues can feel daunting, and certain issues like social anxiety and specific phobias can make face-to-face meetings stressful or frightening. Online counseling via phone calls can help you ease into therapy and go at your own pace.

You don’t have to manage your mental health issues alone or let the stress of commuting to a therapist’s office get in the way of your health and happiness. The online therapists and counselors at Thriveworks in Loveland, CO are here to help you take care of your mental health in a way that is convenient and accessible for you.

I am very happy to offer my highest recommendations for a therapist working with the community at Thriveworks. Here is an example of what it is like to be in Linda Armendariz’s care. We had a family session with Linda. She spoke with each of us beforehand, to have a clear understanding of what each person hoped to accomplish. She was a calming presence throughout our session, gently bringing us back to the issues we wanted to address and helping us hear what was being said. Our common goal was to really understand each other and to be heard. As parents we wanted to support our adult son without enabling him, showing high expectations with a lot of warmth. We were mostly struggling with boundaries, which was confusing to him. In the end we came to a very clear and actionable plan with goals and dates. We each had assignments that we could accomplish. It was agreed that we would work together, openly. We agreed to communicate as a group moving forward. Respect has been key. Linda models what she says. She is intuitive and to the point, so time is used wisely. I believe that anyone who gets to work with Linda will grow steadily!
