Hi! I'm Kathryn Salazar, a licensed professional counselor in Colorado. I have been working in the mental health field for over 20 years. I enjoy helping people feel seen, heard, safe, and supported on their healing journey. I help my clients understand their experiences and themselves on a deeper level.
My work begins with connection. I create a warm, safe, non-judgmental space for you, where you can feel seen, heard, and accepted, just as you are. Healing is not about becoming someone different, but getting to know yourself on a deeper level.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes you just need to take the next step. I am looking forward to helping you on this part of your journey. Easily book your appointment today, and lets begin!

"I believe healing begins when you feel truly seen, heard, and safe. Painful experiences can leave us feeling alone. Feeling supported is crucial for recovery and growth. You deserve compassion, empathy, and a collaborative space to process, reconnect with your strengths, and then begin moving toward building the life you envision."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
From the time I was a child, people have shared their problems with me. In high school I was known as a "trouble shooter." I decided to study psychology in college because I knew I wanted to continue helping people for the rest of my life. Helping others heal is my passion.
What types of clients do you work best with?
My ideal client is ready to begin telling their story. Sharing the heavy often lightens the load enough to begin the healing journey.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
You do not have to become someone different to heal.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
My goal is for you to feel safe, seen, heard, and supported. I will take the time to get to know you, understand your experiences, and help you identify your desired outcomes of our work together.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, and a sister. I know the struggle of the working parent and the challenges of work life balance. I believe many people have not experienced enough compassion and empathy in their lives. I value you as an individual and strive to create a safe and supportive space.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I take the time to get to know you as a unique human, with your own individual needs. You are the expert on you.
