Austin Counseling – North Austin Therapists, Counselors, Life Coaching

Therapy. Counseling. Child Therapy. Couples Counseling. Reading those words may be enough to cause anxiety for some. Others may feel totally comfortable with these concepts. There is no reason to feel apprehension when thinking about pursuing therapy or counseling.

In some families or cultures, this is totally normal and acceptable. In others, it may feel out of the ordinary. Whatever type of background you come from — whether you are originally from Austin, Texas, or a recent transplant — you should not feel nervous in making a call for help or guidance.

Everyone needs guidance at some point in his or her life. Perhaps you’re going through similar to one of these hypothetical scenarios:

  • A close relative has passed away and the grief is almost too much to bear
  • After a recent move to a different city, your once happy-go-lucky child is having a difficult time adjusting to the new school, teachers and classmates
  • You want to get married, but want to be as prepared as possible for the commitment
  • Your job is unfulfilling, but no other opportunities have presented themselves
  • Your spouse has been unfaithful, and you’re not sure what to do
  • An activity you once used as a stress reliever has become a serious addiction

Your situation may not resemble anything from the above list, but you undoubtedly have your own challenges and goals. You don’t need to face these things alone. The professional coaches and therapists at Thriveworks North Austin Counseling have experienced great success in helping people living through the similar situations.

Each month, thousands of patients experience how a Thriveworks mental health professional can teach you how to:

  1. Set and achieve goals
  2. Work through challenging relationships and other life issues
  3. Seek inner strength and personal growth

While there is certainly a large percentage of already successful people who seek counseling to reach increased levels of personal growth, a lot of people trying to find a counselor or coach do so as a result of some emotional anguish. If you’re in pain, you don’t want to call office after office leaving voicemails to try to find someone who has current session openings and accepts your insurance.

If you want care and guidance immediately, call us. Most first-time Thriveworks North Austin Counseling clients meet with their therapist or coach within 24 hours of initiating a conversation us.

We all know that our physical health is important. We take vitamins, exercise, eat well, attend physicals, but many of us ignore our mental health.

Our mental health should also be remembered and cared for. It is just as important to make sure we maintain balance and equilibrium mentally as well.

When we aim our efforts at becoming a balanced individual, our day-to-day tasks and decisions become more clear, and as a result our lives are happier and more fulfilling — paths to progress become more visible. Understanding that we may benefit from speaking with a professional is the first step in healing and fully functioning.

Making the decision to pursue counseling can cause anxiety and fear. While making this decision can be very difficult, it can also be one of the best and most proactive steps you can take for yourself, your loved one, or your relationship.

While it may be very difficult to make the decision to pursue counseling, it may also be the best decision you can make for your wellbeing. Pursuing care at Thriveworks North Austin Counseling can benefit you as an individual, your family, and your relationships.

Reasons to seek counseling may include:

  • Anxiety issues
  • Couples counseling
  • Eating disorders
  • Obsessive-compulsive tendencies
  • Grief counseling
  • Problems with a child
  • Anger management
  • Addiction issues
  • Life coaching
  • Life transitions such as divorce or loss of a job

Perhaps you identified with one of the issues on this list immediately. Or perhaps you feel discouraged because your concern is not listed here. Even if the reason that you are seeking counseling is not listed here, the therapists at Thriveworks North Austin Counseling can still help.

It is nearly impossible to list all of the reasons why individuals, couples, or families may seek counseling and therapy. It is a very personalized and important decision. People of all ages, and in all stages of life, can benefit from counseling.

The issues that we see in our offices vary widely, in both scope and severity. There is nothing that you can present with that will shock us.

This is a safe and open environment where you can be free to discuss whatever you need to discuss. Every person is unique, as are their problems and goals.

Major Insurance Plans Accepted

By Accepting major insurance plans, we make high-quality counseling care affordable in Austin, Texas.”

We understand: You pay top dollar every month for those insurance premiums — and those insurance plans cover mental health counseling services. Why pay hundreds of dollars out-of-pocket when you could be paying a $20 co-pay?

We find it alarming how few counseling practices are willing to serve their valued clients by accepting their insurance payers reimbursements. In contrast to the norm, we accept many (if not most) major insurance plans including Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, Tricare, Humana and many more.

Classist Trash

1 5 1
I reached out and requested an appointment for a few days out. The day of, 3 hours before my appointment, I received a rushed voicemail telling me I had to call back and speak with Andrea otherwise the appointment wasn't confirmed. Ok, I called back and after 7 tries I finally spoke with Andrea, who couldn't be bothered and informed me that my appointment wasn't available anymore. So at some point between 12 and 12:30 my appointment disappeared. No apology, no explanation just quickly dismissed and moved on to the next appointment a week out. She asked what my insurance was and when I said I didn't have any she said "oh. Well. is $130 a session are you going to be able to pay that?" And then insisted I put a $99 deposit down over the phone for a session for next week. I said "Oh ok so it's kind of like a co-pay where..." and she cut me off and said "This is not a co-pay, that's if you have insurance" tying to correct me, and I said "That's why I said it was LIKE" and informed her that she had all kinds of nasty attitude and I ended the ridiculous conversation. This practice is classist trash that obviously doesn't care about people with issues. Their self-schedule appointments are fake and twice they were more concerned with money than helping a new client. I understand this is still a business, but your clients make your business, so how dare you. Classist trash.

No need to look elsewhere...

I've been going to Kris for about 6 months now. I look forward to my weekly sessions with her. You'll never hear her say "And how does that make you feel?" She digs deep and helps guide you in a conversation that's extremely productive and so helpful. I highly recommend seeing Kris if you can. P.S. She usually has candy waiting for you and adult coloring books. Are you sold yet?
