"I am a married mother of three children who are 20, 11 and 9 years old. I enjoy reading and have been a member of a book club for 11 years. Book club is an integral part of my self-care and love discussing the monthly book as well as life's ups and downs. I also love watching my children play sports. As a family-oriented working mother and wife, I understand the unique and intricate family dynamics of raising a family and balancing work along with individual interests and would love to work with you along your growth and exploration of the intricacies of family/life balance."

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Growing up I was very close to my grandmother who suffered from depression and anxiety. She tended to have a negative outlook on her life and minimized her accomplishments. As the matriarch of her family, she raised eight children, left her alcoholic husband during a time and in a culture where it was taboo to divorce and started a whole new life in a new country. Despite overcoming such challenges, she could not see how brave she was and dwelled heavily on the past. I credit her for my decision to further explore how our past impacts who we are. I wanted to find out if it was possible to rewire those thoughts, further explore what shapes us and in turn help people to develop strategies to face and conquer past traumas as well as to evolve and adapt to change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew how unique and special they each are. We are our own worst critic.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by all the strong, wonderful people that are in my support system. They have all faced obstacles in life, big and small, yet they have each learned from those challenges and grown.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
During our first session, clients can expect genuine care and attention because I want to get to know them and their unique situation.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want each client to feel comfortable with me and come out of our first session with the understanding that therapy is not something to fear. I want them to understand what the process will entail and feel at ease.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy reading and have been a member of a book club for 11 years. Book club is an integral part of my self-care and love discussing the monthly book as well as life's ups and downs. I also love watching my children play sports. I started off as a soccer mom 14 years ago and have moved into being a baseball and basketball mom. On my spare time, I also like watching crime documentaries. My favorite thing to do is travel whether it is a quick getaway with my husband or a weekend sports tournament as a family. I love to explore and get to know new places.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am a justice-seeker. I will stand by what is right and not necessarily what is comfortable or expected.
