About
As a woman of color, I bring both personal insight and professional awareness of the challenges that can affect mental health and self-worth.
My name is Jacquita White, and I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am currently working toward full licensure while providing compassionate, client-centered care under supervision. I work with preteens, adolescents, and adults who may be navigating stress, life transitions, anxiety, relationship challenges, or emotional overwhelm. My goal is to create a supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered as they work toward meaningful change and personal growth.
My approach to therapy is warm, supportive, and collaborative. I use Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavior therapy, and Person-Centered therapy to help clients manage anxiety, stress, and life transitions while building healthier coping skills, emotional balance, and greater self-awareness.
Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, but you do not have to navigate life’s challenges alone. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you feel heard and understood. If you are ready to begin your healing journey, I would be honored to walk alongside you.

“In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety” (Abraham Maslow). Sometimes what feels safe, comfortable, and familiar, is actually unhealthy; change can be hard and the unknown scary. Do you feel stuck, repeating toxic patterns or negative thinking? Have life events or stress become overwhelming or seem unmanageable? Maybe you just need a supportive space to talk about what you’re going through and how you are feeling.

My go-to approach for treating depression is acceptance and commitment therapy. I enjoy this modality because it integrates the use of distress tolerance skills as well as values exploration. Clients are encouraged to engage in non-judgmental awareness and acceptance of their thoughts and but also activities that promote a sense of purpose, enjoyment, and fulfillment.
I teach the following tools in depression counseling: accurate identification of feelings, sensations, and unproductive thoughts/beliefs; emotional regulation/distress tolerance skills; cognitive defusion skills (creating healthy distance between self and unproductive/negative thoughts/feelings/sensations); values assessment and exploration of activities that provide access to sense of purpose, fulfillment, satisfaction, and meaning; as well as self-compassion and self-validation skills where clients are encouraged to relate themselves to personal friends, a loved one, or their “younger self.”
I know a client is making meaningful progress in depression counseling when they report the ability to navigate difficult thoughts with increased emotional regulation, understanding, and self-compassion and lean into activities that provide a sense of fulfillment, purpose, and personal agency.
Clients can supplement their time in depression therapy with mindfulness, deep-breathing exercises, grounding practices, increased awareness of their authentic emotions, recognition of unproductive thoughts, and engagement in self-compassion and activities that nurture their personal values.
To prepare for a depression therapy session, someone can begin by identifying the unproductive thoughts/beliefs that lead to emotional distress and problematic behaviors so that they are better prepared to interact with these thoughts in healthier ways, thereby increasing regulation and personal agency. The client is also encouraged to explore personal values, strengths, skills, abilities, preferences, and other resources for support.
